Think about it, if they reboot the series they will probably have to find all new vehicle modes for the robots. now that may seem easy, it means they will have to redesign the robot modes as well. that will take up time and money, remember this is Hollywood, they rather stick with something that makes money then take a chance on something different.

and also, the third film just came out, if they reboot it, they will probably do it 5 years from now. if they make a sequel they can do it in the next 2 to 3 years. the TF films are money makers, Hollywood wont say, "Hey, instead of making money now, lets wait 5 or more years, then wing it!"

and finally, since Bay left the franchise, Steven Spielberg, Zack Snyder, or Peter Jackson should take over as director if they make a 4th film.

thats my 2 cents on this sequel/reboot thing. i'm sorry, i just don't see Hollywood caring about a reboot when everybody is used to how the characters look.

BUT how they can do a fourth film without the main decepticons?

I would be fine with Zack Snyder directing it, but 2 things:
1-Let's see if The Man Of Steel is reviewed positively. Sucker Punch had Superman fans worried.
2-I doubt he'll have time for Transformers. According to the website of Cruel and Unusual Films (Or whatever it's called), he has a bunch of other projects to do.

I would like Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson directing it too.

    one word: Unicron.

or just bring in a new decepticon who wants to take over in Megatron's place (i.e. - Blitzwing, Scourge, etc.)

If Megatron could be revived once. He possibly could be again.
Also, what about the Matrix. They used it to revive Sentinel. Why not megatron? (If possible, as Sentinel was still alive, not sure about Megatron.)

    Galvatron anyone? XD

Honestly, If anyone. I would want Spielberg to direct a 4th movie. But I think Shia is the only one who play as Sam, I'd bet that Paramount or Hasbro might give him a lot of money to be in TF4.

They only used a handful of main decepticons in the film series, theres a lot more cons out there. Skywarp, Slipstream, Blitzwing, Scourge, Cyclonus, The Sunticons, The Combatacons. the list goes on and on. Plus like Skywarp2413 said, UNICRON...or even better PIRMUS!!! There is just so much more of the TF universe that the films have yet to cover.

think about it. you haven't seen the idea of the reboot or designs yet nor the story for a fourth.

how can you say one or the other of two things that don't exist is better?

I think they could bring in Galvatron as the big bad.

And not as Megatron. This would open the door for Scourge and Cyclonus as well.

I'm pretty sure I don't want Unicron though.

A 4th movie and forward is good, so that I can start a career in film, and make the reboot myself. I actually do want to start a film career when I get older, and making my own take on Transformers is something I would like to try, if I ever got the chance.

Curse the Nolan Batman films for being so successful! They - and ONLY they - are the reason some people are so desperate for a reboot.

    Too true.

If they're going to have Galvy, make him an entirely different and separate character the Megs.

Just read the Last Stand of the Wreckers last night. Why not Overlord? He was boss.
Then you have plenty of cons to chose from like Lugnut, Blitzwing, Breakdown, Scourge, Cyclonus ect.
Unicron and Trypticon could also be used if they wanted characters that up the scale, so to speak.

BUT maybe they have plenty more villains to pull from the comics or the shows.
BUT, then again, maybe we should have some faith in their storytelling.

These reasons are speaking strictly from a business perspective of the filmmakers themselves with little, if any, relevance to the audience at all. How does that make another sequel better than doing a reboot for certain? These don't really say anything about how it would be better but rather seem to be your reasons for why you think another sequel is more likely than a reboot.

Dr VonSmartbrain, are you sure you should be rebuilding Megatron and Starscream as weapons for the millitary?

Oh yes. I pushed the CPU off button before starting. It's not like anything can go wrong.

    ---------------------
Commander Stupidchief, are you sure we should keep these Decepticon bodies locked in here?

Yes. We can learn stuff. And there is no chance there could be a thirteenth Macguffin. None at all.
    ---------------------
General Doesntlisten, sir, this is a nasty storm for us to be transporting Decepticon remains.

Can it, private. The worst that could happen is we get struck by lightning. It's not like lightning is given magical resurrection properties all the time or anything.

I also think that they should make a significant jump in the timeline - say 10, maybe 15 years.
