I just finished watching G.I. Joe Resolute, and It has filled me with envy. G.I. Joe fans are so lucky. At least if the live action version is not good quality, they may have this to fall back on. As transformers fans, do we have something that tries to maintain the original asthetic but still respects our intelligence?
    Nope.
Please don't get me wrong, I am not hating. Animated and the live action movie have their strong points. One of those is NOT repect for the viewers inteligence. Animated gets a pass in this department because it is for kids, so the maturity level being what it is can be understood. Movieverse? Well, lets just say that pee-pee jokes and "wasup bitches" are not my taste.
I respect that some people don't like the older style asthetic of transformers, but I think an updated version of that look would be great.

I wouldn't want to see violence just for more violence. I don't think pure violence adds anything to a story. I WOULD, however, like to see a mature take on Transformers and done in the visual style of GI Joe: Resolute.

id like but as Superion33 said i would not want more violence for violence sake, it has to be appropriate to the story, and if they go with Optimus dying init make Rodimus less of a boob XD

I'm down with the aesthetic style and conceptual approach... but as everyone else has said, increased violence is a poor substitute for more intelligent, mature plots. Unfortunately, the wording of the poll suggests that violence would be the primary distinction of such a series.

That said, I didn't think GIJOE Resolute was excessive to any degree (though the story could have been a bit smarter), and I also have no problem showing some degree of death and destruction as a logical human cost to giant robot beatdowns.

Why are you making it sound as if liking giant transforming robots is automatically synonymous with intelligence and maturity? I mean, have you actually read some of the comments on this board, or any other TF-devoted site for that matter?

I think if they redid G1 in animation with much more mature plot lines while still holding true to the original would be awesome. If its a retelling then make it the G1 plot but modernized. Violence doesn't need to be as much as GI Joe Resolute but it still needs to be action packed fun.

I don't see a problem with having both a more intellectually complex plot, motivations, and characterizations, while ramping up the destructive spectacle and loss of life from giant, alien robots fighting.

I honestly think this should be the future of the Transformers brand if Hasbro knew what was awesome.

Well its a posibility now that Animated is ending and there's a gap left open after the movie blows over.

Anything is possible, but I'm not holding my breath on that one. They'll probably find entirely new ways to aggravate a good percentage of it's fan base.

I mean, what's TF fandom without bitching and moaning anyways?:lol

I think an "Untold Tales of the Transformers" type series would be interesting, personally. They could write new episodes that take place in between the existing G1 ones to explain plot holes or just have some fun with the material without their hands being tied like they were in the 80s.

True... there's a strong rumour that Hasbro is prepping just such a show in the Resolute mold. But there's no guarantee that it'll be good.

And by "good", I of course mean that I will like it. The rest of the fandom likes all sorts of crap. :lol

If Hasbro decided to go with the movie-verse as the next animated series, I wanna see how some of these robots grasp at objects or interact with computers with their pincer hands. Or climb stairs and other elevated platforms with wheels for feet. Heck, I'd just be interested in seeing movie Megatron actually using his teeth to cannibalize other robots. And then of course how Optimus and Megatron are brothers. Or even just the simple question of whether any robots will sport red now that we don't have Bay's "red colors aren't able to be shot by the camera".

I've never seen G.I. Joe: Resolute but from reading this thread I'd be interested. I do however, feel that an update in everything for G1 would be a good idea. I wouldn't mind a little more violence and having both human and robotic life loss would be a good thing to include. The '86 movie showed what a real war between two robot factions fighting would look and feel like, with the characters dying and what not. Obviously you couldn't do it on that grand a scale with multiple character deaths every other battle, with a TV show. If you did it would be taking it overboard. I wouldn't mind seeing them even do what "Star Trek" did with the whole random no namers being cannon fodder next to the primary cast.

The '86 movie showed us what killing off fan favorites for new characters would look like. That's all.
