called the shop this morning (xl shop toys, it also sells online), they just received shipment, ditch the office, took the cab ride across town to pick it up. comments:

    - in-box, its heftier than mp3, out of box, not as solid as mp1. standard box graphics but pretty cool how the pic of the robot and gun is glossy while rest of box is matte.
    - die cast mostly in armatures that hold the spine/waist parts and the feet.
    - very nice finish tho with the silver/chrome paint. the above pic shows how the flat surfaces even have a grit texture to them, like stainless teel in hairline/brush finish.
    - decent articulation. dont think it can turn at the waist tho due to tranformation. not that stable in posing. kibbleness also hampers solid feel to figure. feels gangly. articulated fingers. pose shown above is the most extreme i could do without toppling over. pretty decent i guess.
    - very kibbly. the leg and arm are beefed up by having stuff pop out on ball joints. these tend to pop off.
    - scope balances fine. as shown in pic, gun is oversized but not severely. i'm just 5-7, so prolly look even better if youre 6 ft and up.

pretty good buy i guess. at abt 75usd, this is cheaper then when mp1 1st came out, still cheaper then when mp3 came out. my only real complaint is the kibbleness of the design.

edit: hmm, seem to have bought it cheaper than advertised on site. member/preorder price must vary.

    add comments:
    - theres some real ingenuity to the transformation scheme. the way the torso collapses into the chest when you push down the chest, pretty brilliant.
    - the gun safety is articulated, the trigger too, but no clicking like classic megs. also, the the led light is pretty bright, but the beam is wider than a laser pointer.
    - the parts seem pretty sturdy compared to mp3, but some parts fit together a bit tight, so if youre TFing him for 1st time its a bit of a doozy, notably pulling out the head assembly from the neck.
    - i also couldnt get the upper/right arm to align properly in gun mode, but ill prolly get it right the 2nd time around. also, even with instruction its a bit hard to figure the waist assembly. just needs a bit of improvisation and getting used to.

    Thanks for the review KA.

    Quick question.
Does the fusion cannon can the arm to drop or is it pretty sturdy?

as mentioned above, the scope balances fine. the shoulder joint is ratcheted (i think). not sure if he can stand up straight and raise his arm 90 degrees, but in the pose i showed, yes, he can raise his arm proper to take aim or summat.

Looks nice despite the flaws you mentioned it still looks like the best gun transformer to date. I really like the satin chrome metallic paint job. Looks like real metal. very nice indeed. Now, just start sending them to this continent please :)

Thanks for the review. Looking forward to getting mine. Hopefully, Takara can out do Megatron by giving us a Shockwave MP one day...go ahead and give us correct SS, TC and SW to make the money for the Shockwave project...

Thanks for the review as always!

How are the knees though? Are they as weak and fragile as they look? Are they ratcheted or smooth moving?

Mmm, he still looks like a tasty bot to me. Can't wait to get one, plug or no plug.
