Lately I've been playing around with the idea of a theoretical Season 5 of Transformers Animated. It would herald the return of Henry Masterson and Porter C. Powell as major villains in the TFA Universe by pwning our favorite bots in a season long Headmaster story arc. What follows is the result of my toying around, with more Season 5 characters and stories to come. Obviously this was done for fun, and I do not own the rights for anything Transformers (Animated or otherwise) names & logos © Hasbro Backstory: Nearly inseparable brothers Sideswipe and Sunstreaker joined the Autobot Academy together. Sunstreaker quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a well respected member of the Elite Guard. Sideswipe on the other hand, always seemed to be on drill sergeant Warpath's bad side, and was looked upon as the manufacturers defect of the two brothers. There is a reckless edge to Sideswipe's tactics that never sat well with Warpath. Sideswipe makes rash decisions that endangers not only himself, but his teammates as well, all in the name of possible victory. Hardly Elite Guard material in Warpath's book. Sideswipe is not nearly as decorated as his brother Sunstreaker, but he is every bit as skillful. A bit of a jock and competitive almost to a fault, Sideswipe just wants the chance to prove he is just as much of the bot Sunstreaker is, but just can't seem to catch a break. With the brothers apart for the first time in decacycles, Sideswipe was hoping to use his remaining time in the Academy to step out of Sunstreaker's shadow and prove that he is Elite Guard material. Unfortunately, Warpath had already had enough of Sideswipe's cocky attitude and detached views of teamwork. In the old days, Warpath would have delivered Sideswipe to Master Yoketron in hopes he could bring some sense to the young bot. Sadly, that is no long an option. Rather than washing Sideswipe out of the Academy, Warpath had Sideswipe reassigned to Thunderhead Pass Prison to work with Hound Minor and his squadron, hoping Hound and Prison Warden Kup would knock some sense into him. Much to his dismay, Sideswipe quickly began to see Kup as a mentor, as they both feel that when everything is on the line, nothing is out of the question. However, Sideswipe took the reassignment pretty harshly. Sideswipe wanted action, something he wasn't going to get standing guard over decommissioned Decepticons. How was he to prove his mettle when he was left out of the action? Things only became worse when Sideswipe heard Sunstreaker had gone missing while on a mission for Cybertron Intelligence. Sideswipe began actively disregarding his squadron leader, Hound to routinely contact High Command and demand a transfer so that he may help Rodimus Prime and his team in the search for Sunstreaker. Though in constant competition with his brother, and even with their relationship strained at times, the two obviously care about each other and are fiercely loyal to one another. No longer willing to sit and wait, Sideswipe went AWOL after intercepting a data file stating Sunstreaker's last known whereabouts was on Earth. Now in transit to the planet Sideswipe is more than willing to bust some heads to find his brother.
There were actually 3 seasons of the show. In the Allspark Almanac Vol.2, they outlined what Season 4 would have been had it made it to production. So I figured I had better play it safe, and cast my FanFic in season 5.
We could have had Sentinel Magnus, Mincons, a trip to the TFA Shattered Glass Universe, a growing Predacon army and Megatron busting out of Kaon Prison by relocating the entire prison to Lake Erie (awesome). Unfortunately though, season 4 never came to be. But who knows, maybe Transformers Prime will blow TFA outta the water.
He's an excellent drawing, but he's a little on the... for lack of a better term, bland side. There's nothing really characterful about his design that suggests anything about his personality.
Think this is pretty awesome! You seem to have nailed the style, which is great! I do have some slight remarks..just do with them as you like (use or ignore ): -I think the legs (or everything from the waist down) might be a bit too much like Ultra Magnus'..they're not copied but they look sort of familiar, so I'm not sure if that was intentional or just a coincidence. -The soulpatch on his face is cool, but I also think Tracks has that. Now, I'm not saying that means others can't have one either, but it's a rather distinctive addition. -This is pretty much my only *real* remark: it's way too red. I think the design could have some benefit by breaking that red up, probably with some light silver or white. Maybe Split Lip is sort of right that he is a bit 'bland', but I do think the cockiness character shows, so I could see him work as a side character. Oh, and I really like the accelerated/boost punch! Are we going to see Sunstreaker next?
Sideswipe looks awesome, nice work! I don't know if I could handle a season-long Headmaster story arc though... that guy really bugged me.
Hey, I appreciate the critique. With turning 32 next month, I guess you can say I'm a late in life artist, not to be so presumptuous as to suggest my Sideswipe as art. However, I'm still coming into my own style and learning how to self edit while still trusting my eye. Hopefully the foundation is there so that I have something to build off of.
I drew Kup a couple months ago. Obviously, before the Derrick J. Wyatt version of Kup appeared in the Allspark Almanac Vol 2. But I'm still happy with the way he turned out. Kup on Deviant Art.
