SEEDS OF DECEPTION - CHAPTER SIX: SHOCKWAVE/SOUNDWAVE

    Pages 1-5 [of 22]

Cover B by Juan Pablo Osorio.

Story Franco Villa and Peter Istyle

    Art and Colors Tomoko

    Edits Zac DeBoard

    Special thanks to:
    - Ibai Canales, who created the color scheme for the Infiltration Batch Warehouse;
    - Iohannes Vinci, who designed the World Of Roytonok (soon to appear in his SoD chapter).

    More comics and continuity notes

Seeds Of Deception - Chapter One: Omega Supreme.
Seeds Of Deception - Chapter Seven: Sentinel Prime.

    Notes

The Shockwave/Soundwave chapter is based on a structure that has been used in many US comics; my "first time", however, came with Fantastic Four #277, "Back From Beyond", by John Byrne.

The "Seeds Of Deception" Universe is a collection of profiles/bios/tech files about characters, items, locations, concepts.

For more notes, see Seeds Of Deception - Chapter One: Omega Supreme.

So are these just five page previews? Or are they the full comic? Where do we get the full comic?

Thanks, and the work looks fantastic.

The full comic is 22-pages long; we will put online more pages as soon as they are ready.
This is why we "broke the story down" in many "Acts", each one long 5 or six pages.

This was Act I, I hope it was worth the work :)

    Thanks!

This is why I don't need to worry about trying to buy t'former comics...the storytelling and art work here is so good that the "professional" stuff would probably be a letdown. lol

    Story and art are amazing!
I especially like the way the pages are split for telling Shockwaves and Soundwaves story at the same time.

    Well done!

    Behind the scenes: some notes.

    Page 1.

Shockwave hides a romantic side: in his office, there is a copy of the bas-relief to the memory of Nova Prime and his crew on the First Ark (Jhiaxus, Cyclonus, Straxus, Grindcore).
Scourge is NOT in the group.
More details in "Spotlight: Optimus Prime" and "Spotlight: Galvatron".

Nova and his acolytes had a plan. Just like the Cylons in "Battlestar Galactica".

The Incubation Storehouse hosts the Infiltration Batch.

The concept of Stasis Pods containing new protoforms is taken from "Beast Wars".

The storehouse has been designed by Peter, who took inspiration from Star Trek's Borg ships.

Professor Kup greets Soundwave, actin as a (sort of) proto-initiator.

    Page 2.

New mechs in panel 2: Trannis, Mixmaster and Thunderwing (before his Pretender Shell, see "Stormbringer").

D-17 is the japanese code for the first G1 Soundwave toy.

Soundwave can read minds, just like his classic Marvel profile said (and as shown in "War Of The Dinobots").
In our Profile for the "Seeds Of Deception Universe", there is a lot more about this.

    Page 3.

High Circuitmaster Boltax was created by Bob Budiansky and José Delbo for the classic "The Flames Of Boltax", a G1 Marvel US comic.

Cameos at the Academy: Perceptor, Beachcomber, Jetfire.

The World Of Roytonok and its military forces were devised by Iohannes.

Red Team cameos: Warpath and Thrust.
The green robot is an unnamed mech created by Tomoko.

    Page 4.

Gamma Tetraeon was meant to be Alpha Trion. But then we realized that this would not have worked, if we were to keep it in continuity with our upcoming Mosaic "Voice Of Experience".

Cameos in panel 3 and 4: Swindle (stealing technology, see "Spotlight: Ultra Magnus") and Repugnus (see "Maximum Dinobots").

"Are you alive? Prove it." is a reference to BattleStar Galactica (again).

We have already seen the small aliens killed by Repugnus. Namely, in "Spotlight: Galvatron".

Soundwave and blackmail: something he did since his original Marvel profile. More recently, in "Spotlight: Soundwave".

    Page 5.

Boltax was created by Bob Budiansky and José Delbo for "The Flames of Boltax", a classic G1 Marvel comic.
He seems to be fated to become one of the Ancients seen in "The War Within".

Panel 2: on Shockwave's "notepad", the image of the mech who will become his "pupil".

    XD
This is most flattering, but we're only trying to follow the path laid out by Simon Furman with his "War Within", "Spotlight: Shockwave" and "Spotlight: Soundwave" comics :)

Is there somewhere we can go to see all the pages from 1-current in chronological order? This series is badass.

    ~Z

PS: If you need/want more background characters, hit me up - I used to write fanfics and MUSH plots so Ive a huge collection of reference material for both factions as well as neutrals and aliens.

    Thanks!

Since we cannot guarantee regular exists for these stories, we have decide to develop each chapter "in parallel".

Each chapter works as a Spotlight, telling (almost) the same events from a different point of view: from the ordnance of the new Prime to the beginning of the Civil War.

These are the available Acts so far:
    Omega Supreme: Act 1
    Shockwave/Soundwave : Act 1
    Sentinel Prime: Act 1

    For instance, Sentinel's Act I takes place between pages 5 & 6 of Omega's Act I.

Shockwave/Soundwave's Act I takes place just after that.

I hope this structure will get clearer once we have more pages online for the Omega's chapter (that works as a framing sequence for ALL the events).

The rule is quite flexible, though: each chapter will reveal many new events/secret that are just hinted in other chapter.
We hope the readers will enjoy finding these references/connections.

Great work on these stories I just found out about them through the mosaic and have been looking at all the other Act 1 stories. The story and art are great and it fits well with what has come after be it War Within or the IDW books. Keep up the great work.
