Come on guys, this is our chance to get some official fiction showing what happened between season 2 and the movie as well as maybe some after Rebirth fiction. All we gotta do is sign the petition. This guy has been in contact with IDW and basically if he can prove there's enough interest, it'll happen. That's what the petition will show.

Why...?

 

I'm kind of tired of G1 settings in the comics. I want something else.

 

I say go for it! I just signed it myself. Imagine the stories they could come up with.

 

One one hand, it couldn't be worse than Primacy. On the other... Seems pretty unnecessary.

Also, why waste time on a G1 cartoon comic when a certain series starting with "A" deserves a continuation comic far, far more.

 

And one of those could be how he gained control of Cybertron.

 

The IDW series is G1.

No thanks. G1 bores me. Just keep giving me MTMTE, RiD/Transformers, and the improving-in-quality mini series like Windblade and i'd be happy.

 

Not for me personally, but hey, I'll sign it cause more stuff is always good and I know that there's peeps out there who'd enjoy it.

 

Or an amazing IDW standard comic, with good story telling. And if it is a lot like the G1 cartoon, then hey, bring back some memories for all the fans who grew up on G1.

 

Would I be interested if it came out well? Yes...

Is Re-Gen 1 a HUGE negative precedence? Also yes.

It incorporates many G1 characters, but it doesn't follow the US G1 cartoon continuity, in which I was stating what bores me. Same as Regeneration One isn't part of the US G1 cartoon continuity.

 

Animated or nothing.

(Except maybe if it's a continuation of the universe from Mars Attacks! The Transformers)

 

I don't think we can consider the IDW comics G1 anymore. They have so much original stuff, while bringing in other material from other parts of the franchise (Lockdown and the Vehicon drones) that I don't think it works anymore. It can be called IDW G1, but its certainly not G1 anymore.

 

Very unnecessary. And what would determine this as a G1 cartoon comic? If it starts introducing story arcs, character development, etc, it stops being a G1 cartoon comic and becomes yet another "G1 reboot" comic, which the IDW comic technically already is. If it really stays as a G1 cartoon comic with self-contained stories that feel like 80's cartoon plots, then it works, but it's also going to be extremely boring.

Either way, what's the point?

 

I feel like it's something that in an absolute perfect world could be done well. With the right attention to retro 80s cartoon style and the FEEL and voice of the G1 toon. With just the right author who could capture that without being too hokey or too fanboy ish. With introducing the later years toys in the right order and way as the toon would have theoretically done sequentially. That COULD be fun.

BUT I think there is VERY little chance that that would happen. It would more likely end up missing the mark badly. It's one of those things that has a lot of moving parts to make function pleasingly and I don't have any faith they'd find a creative team up to the challenge.


-ZacWilliam, the failure of ReG1 to be what it should have been has really soured me on the idea of trying again.
