There's been a lot of talk these days of cassettes, with the release of KO MP Ratbat, KFC Transistor and the upcoming MP Goatwave. It's a really exciting time for cassette collectors like myself. I've had this display for quite a while so I thought now is great time to share.

For me, cassettes have a dual nostalgic meaning to me, #1 Soundwave and his minions were some of the coolest transformers that I never owned as a kid (not anymore :D  ) and #2 cassettes are something that remind me of the 80s, my era, the best damn time for TV, music, movies and of course TOYS!

The case itself, is a shot glass display case in oak finish with black felt back drop, hand made from real wood. It sits on top of my fireplace and is about 26" x26". Its pretty big, heavy and can be hung if needed.

Basically, what you see below is every possible G1 cassette toy ever created, some originals, some reissues, some repaints and even some KOs. I even added in a few 3rd Party cassettes I thought were worthy of displaying and some cassettes from the Classics/Henkei line.

This first picture is actually of my old arrangement but gives you an idea of how the cabinet looks with the glass door shut. NOTE: It's very difficult to photograph without getting some reflection but I think these turned out pretty good.

And here is the new arrangement with some of the recent LEGO Reprolabel cassette stickers that were released last month. Each LEGO tile color was matched to its corresponding cassette's base color. I need to Bricklink the rest of the outstanding colors since I ran out of 1x2 tiles. Plus some of the colors are pretty rare. I will update pics as I add more.

Thanks for viewing and appreciating cassettes!

AND ALONG SIDE ITS CORRESPONDING 1x2 LEGO TILE WITH REPROLABELS

Each LEGO tile used matches base color of cassette. Need to Bricklink more colored tiles before I add pics of the rest.

Top two are Wing Thing and Shattered Glass Ratbat customs. Comic Ratbat is from the new GI JOE crossover FunPub exclusive. Clear Ratbat is not a KO. Its origin is a mystery.

Very nice. I have all of the cassettes released in the 80s, and every masterpiece cassette so far. I also have one of the vintage Transistor Robots KOs. I'll probably build a collection of the repaints very slowly, but am not in a hurry for those.

So awesome! I'm obssessed with cassettes too. I like your arrangements; it'd be neat to see some of the better 3rd party ones in there in addition to the autoscout.

Thanks man. I need a prayer mat I think lol

Well, I have many 3rd party cassettes but none were good enough IMO to stand along side my G1 cassettes. Autoscout was an exception as it was a "character" from G1 that was never immortalized in a G1 mold but had a cameo in the cartoon, albeit a short one...BOOM!

That being said, I'm really looking forward to seeing more of KFC's new style MP cassettes like HiFi and Fader. Their Rover is really going to be interesting to see. If this picture below is what we can expect from KFC from now on in the cassette department, then I'm in cassette heaven.

Thanks! I also collect MPs, some G1, WSTs and G1 Robot Heroes. But the cassettes are my favorite hands down.

Nice display! I have 63 different Transformers cassettes to date counting 3rd party, G1, and new releases like Takara's Wingthing, repaints of G1. No KO's , started collecting them, but sold them off. Talking about the Rumble and Laserbeak repaints they made every color in the rainbow of and even Gold ones.
I have made cards for all cassettes to display with them in tape mode in a acrylic case some day.
Anyway, thanks for showing some of your collection.

It's used to identify weak-spots or technical data viewed through the tape door glass of Twincast and Soundblaster.

I really love your display! I clicked your sig and ended up here. Real nice. Could you pm me where you got the tape cover inserts? I'd like to print some myself.

    thanks!

Thank you everyone. G1 cassettes are awesome and I just acquired the new YOTG cassettes plus a clear Ratbat test shot. I will add pics this weekend.

The tape cover inserts are from Reprolabels. They come with the sticker sheets for Masterpece Soundwave and Soundblaster. They are also double sided stickers, meaning the inner side has the list of songs like a real cassette insert had back in the days. Very cool touch by Reprolabels IMO.
