It's very tempting, but I don't like their reputation for quality control. I just wonder how long we might have to wait for FansToys' Blaster, assuming they still plan to make one. I'm sure it would end up being the best 3rd party version.

I'm also surprised Takara didn't fast track an official Masterpiece version given how successful Soundwave sold. Just like Soundwave, Blaster has repaint potential and they could sell plenty of cassettes separately, so there's lots of money for Takara to make off the character. And then Hasbro could eventually repack it all as a US TRU exclusive.  

 

Very nice, the included tape is a welcome turn of face for KFC. Once I confirm that v1 isn't an exploding cigar, I could be down...

I wonder what the chances are they they'll release Eject and Rewind as a two pack on their own.

 

I misread it. I thought it was hands for two different figures, didn't realize KP-07 was the hands.

I think I'll probably pass. I don't know if there will be a TT one or if FT still will do theirs, but Blaster just isn't the same without cassettes and I don't care for KFC's cassettes.

 

This render really is to drool over, they pretty much nailed both heads, although there something left to be desired in the feet, in the same way mp13 is a little off. I'm able to ignore it on mp13 quite well, so here's a true and honest 'best of luck' to KFC. Mp blaster is a bucket lister for me.

 

So he does come with a tape. I think this puts my want for Badcube Outback to bed, more of a mainstream character and not significantly more. November looks like it's gonna be a busy month!

The other tape will come with a meaningless non event tape. Guaranteed. Hopefully we'll see final colour shots soon if it is out next month.

 

Hm, a bit pricy and considering KFC's reputation not something I feel comfortable with pre-ordering.

Besides, I'm still a bit concerned about the outer sides of his lower legs. All the prototype pics and Peaugh's review showed those parts to be red, which looks pretty bad and inaccurate. And on many pics (like these new ones) they position the robot in such a way that you can't see those parts. If they're red, then I'm not interested.

Why?

Soundwave I can understand: the G1 toy was sold with a cassette and from the very first episode throughout his run, he used his cassette robots. G1 Blaster, however, came without any tapes and the Autobot Cassettes didn't appear until the movie/s3.

And in the comics (where Blaster was much more important than he ever was in the (Sunbow) cartoon) he never had any tapes. (And the only time he held two, he literally spit them out.)


Honestly, I don't care about Blaster having cassette robots. I much prefer what Unique Toys did with his gun transforming into a cassette.

 

I have to ask... if you're certain Takara will release Blaster, then why are you not also confident that they'll release Eject and Rewind?

He looks good, he really does, but with all the QC issues all of their figures end up having, this guy is a pass for me.

 

FWIW DAI Stack is solid. If this is as good/better then there will be no worries.

I bought a pair of the KFC MP-10 hands and they are pretty crappy. The color isn't consistent throughout the plastic and the fingers are incredibly loose. They feel really cheap. The MP-13 hands don't really appeal to me at all.

Good call. I didn't even notice that. They may indeed be red for alt mode.

The transition from legs to feet looks a little strange. Might just be how they have it posed.

Despite some of the possible shortcomings, I can't help but be interested in this. It does look good overall. I guess this is just one of those wait and see's.

 

Their Eject/Rewind seems to be a remold of MP Frenzy/Rumble. That's a good decision, it's a solid mold. And my custom is now obsolete.

 

I want all the tapes, but not necessarily all the tape decks.

 

preorder incentives are nice but it doesn't make people forget what happened with the stack situation. I love my v2 stack but I also waited to see what the issues with v1 were, and by that time, v2 had been announced already.

kfc does make some nice stuff but it's unfortunate you have to play the wait and see game with them out of fear of getting burned.
