on the suggestion from sifu74... (which will be receiving the 1st set as a gift for presenting the idea to me :thumb ) i came up with a solution for the gap in sideswipes legs. honestly i never really gave it that much attention until he brought it up.

so while waiting for paint to dry on the bees... and between cocktails and when i could sneak away from family that is in town...

i came up with this model and printed off a test set...

    works like a charm!

amazed at what a difference it makes! seriously!

yes it's parts forming but i'd rather have the last pic than the 2nd! and no it doesn't tab into anything when in alt mode... realistically no where to put them. its simply a gap filler to improve bot mode looks.

the design of the leg really isn't conducive to filling in that gap as the leg has variations depending on the tab depth, nothing is square in that area... angles galore, and nothing to really bottom out on firmly. but it holds in place. they are a little fiddly i will tell you that right out the gate but its not rocket science to get them to stay where you want. but it looks good. and that's all that matters...

    anyway the nitty gritty:
price is $7.75 shipped. they are a little bigger than bee's covers and as such shipping is going to cost more since it is larger than what an envelope is allowed in width.

payments by paypal to [email protected]

    ****PLEASE*****
make sure to put "sideswipe leg covers" as the subject and don't forget to include your shipping address.

as before, shipping outside US, please PM me and i'll see what it comes out to get to you.

orders won't be going out until this weekend realistically... just giving you the heads up.

any other questions... feel free to ask!

    thx!

This may be a topic for another thread but what type of printer are you using? The quality looks pretty good for a desktop unit (if that's what your using).

Wait, wait, wait... you're an engineer, a TF enthusiast with his own 3D printer and married... to a live woman?

Wow, good for you, guy. I've only managed two of those things... And I lack a 3D printer too. Now, I'm kinda bummed.

Again, I'm really impressed by how clean the panels look.

Looks good, people (including myself) have been suggesting something like this for a long while.

For the G2 Sideswipe, the legs are red instead of black. Any chance of having a red set as well? lol

Well I'll be a monkey's uncle. I've been mistransforming Sideswipes legs for years. Never noticed the little flip out panel before.

No there's really no place to store them in alt mode without it looking completely stupid

Lol yeah living the dream over here man! ;)

You can't really get that detail copied into that surface because of the direction necessary for it to print unfortunately. If the tabs were in the opposite direction it would be possible but because of the way it fits, the outer surfaces flat against the table which doesn't work well for getting detail.

The ones I ran were printed in blue. I have more black on order but it doesn't really make any difference whether it's in blue or black. It's all the same material just colored. Painting it black is just more work for me if I'm out of black plastic. So I guess to answer your question it could be either. Just depends on when my material shows up.

    Answered your pm.

I'll have plenty of sets to go around. Sorry I don't use Facebook! Never really had the time to get into it! I originally thought I was a weirdo being the only one that didn't use it but recently I've talked to a lot of people that don't use it as well. And several of my friends that do use it say they are getting away from it because it kills too much of their time.
