2 AG3 batteries
Ya keep the Zeta bots. I know Fans Toys has a good history. But they also have a bad recent track record of over-engineering stuff, and this is also the first combiner they have everdone. An they are trying to do 2 sets at once!
I mean I love my Zeta set. I even sat down an started customizing it to make it even better. I cant wait to see the set fully done...
Great pic, thanks for posting
Think I'm gonna jump on the Zeta train...who would have Kronos or the bots for cheapest? Many are selling their Kronos in the wake of Ethereon, would my best bet be there?
Also, any quick tips or bullet points on these guys? I really think I'm gonna go all in on them soon. A great looking Superion for under $400 with decent limb bots (from what I've heard) seems like a better deal than a FT $600 (at least) with over engineered, overly heavy figures. Also not liking that metallic paint on Maverick but that's just me wanting a toon aesthetic. In theory, it's actually a really nice looking Silverbolt they made but I think I'm gonna go Zeta.
@robb0429 think ShowZ or TFDirect have them for basically $60 a pop for the limb bots and Silver Arrow is pretty much $135 from most places. TFSource has the limbs for $65 and won't have to wait as long to get them, so it's a matter of saving $20 and waiting longer or ordering in country and getting them sooner.
TerrysTFclub has the full set for like 360-370.
Wait a minute, how did you do that shinny chromy gold trick?
The face looks SOOOO much better in white than that ugly silver it comes in.
Very nice custom by the way.
Thanks. I love the added vac metal look on the MP bots. I feel its very underused, as I loved it on the G1 toys.
But to answer your question, I do that with some vinyl carbody wrap material. Kinda think expert level stickers. As that is basicly what it is. Its custom cut/fitted stickers as I place it on the parts and cut/edit the material as I hand wrap it onto the figure. Takes bloody hours to do, but really worth the effort when done. I figure that plus some custom paint and finally some custom made shapeways parts from forum members here and the set should be what we all wished it could be.
Still hoping for a toy accurate head for Skydive and Slingshot.
Did you take the silver paint OFF of the face, or paint over it?
Either way… HOW??? (looks GREAT BTW!)
Thanks bud. I think it turned out nice also. As for how I did it, I just painted over it all with a single coat of really moderate amount of thinner mixed white model car paint. I then sprayed that across the entire head. Using a single coat caused the silver to make the face look a bit more pearl white than expected. It was def a happy accident as Mr Ross would say, and it helped how the face looks.
I think the detail of the head sculpt looks better muted as white without the black recess paint apps. It seems to look more like the toon Silverbolt head that way. Def an improvement. I recommend doing that if any of you dislike the silver face paint.
Great to see excitement for Kronos now that fans are comparing with maverick.
Nice pic, but here lies the problem with the Zeta and why I also went with the FT offering...the hands are too dam big and disproportionate.
