now that I think of it maybe someone can make replacement chest pieces in shapeways that are a solid flat red that peg in where the clear ones are for an even more Sunbow look

It doesnt feel like like the same quality that was used for the constructicons......just feels kinda off.

 

I haven’t touched one of their Constructicons but I know where you are coming from. For me I think it’s because the figure is actually quite hollow, so it feels a bit cheaper than it actually is. The plastic is actually pretty great really

I think more surprising than the height of the canopy (already known)---is the length---it's much longer than the MP/real F-15. You could almost fit a third seat with the extra length.

 

Like turning a Yugo into a stationwagon and calling it a WeGo? Lmao

 

Longer? I just measured Thundercracker's and Air Raid's canopies and they're both 6.75 cm (give or take a millimeter or two) if I just measure the clear parts. Any perceived difference is probably due to the camera angle or something: sorry, I'm not much of a photographer. Air Raid has two seats and Thundercracker only has one (though you probably already knew that) but I think that's because the seeker mold cheated to work in the transformation of the front section of the cockpit and they couldn't work in a backseat with that.

[Edit] Or maybe it's because Air Raid's front seat sits much further back than Thundercracker's? Like there's a much longer section in front of it than there is in Thundercracker which makes it look like the whole canopy is longer. I assure you they're virtually identical in length.

 

Hmmmn----could you measure from top of nosecone to front of canopy? That looks very different between the two.

Never noticed the little happy faces on TG's knees before. They look like joyful thwomps!

 

Just using Snaku's pic, Air Aid is a bit angled, so in the pic his canopy looks shorter than the seeker's, but it really isn't, but I think it won't be larger either.
The cannopies are different shape, and yes, from the seeker's top of nosecone to front of canopy is longer.

 

So, do we have a firm release on the second Zeta Aerial Bot, Flyfire, then? I've seen everything from "next week" to late January...

 

Yeah, my camera is the one in my phone. Google pixel XL has a nice camera but I've noticed the lens distortions can be pretty bad. Maybe I should take a pic from further away and crop it to size so that all the important stuff is in the middle where there's less distortion.

 

So it seems I underestimated just how interested in the minutia of scale some people were so I decided to try again with more precision this time.






I wasn't able to correct for perspective as much as I'd have liked but I tried to set both jets in exactly the same spot and take the pic from exactly the same spot for the overall length. As you can see, the MP seeker is longer. In the next photo, we see that just about the entire length difference comes from the nosecone which is just over a centimeter longer on the Seeker than AirRaid. Note that I measured from the back of the clear portion of the canopy to the tip of the nose on both jets. In the measurement of just the clear canopies we can see that they're virtually identical. And of course, we already knew canopy height was greater on AirRaid and we see that the difference is about 1.2mm. Also worth noting, the thickest portion of the canopy is further back on AirRaid on the frame that goes over it, while on Skywarp, the thickest portion is a little ways in front of that frame.

 

Either buy it or don't. No offense. OCD is treatable
