How did you fix the arms being backwards? Remove the pin?

 

I’m finally getting a chance to put the metallic version of this together and so far Vortex is a complete pain. Arms are backwards and for reason during transformation, the pegs that are suppose to go into the combiner joint don’t even seem to reach which cause to whole thing no to come together. Anybody else have this problem?

 

You may have resolved it already, but what I did was open the panels as if you were transforming the hands. From there you can rotate the forearm by the mushroom peg, then the upper arm for everything to be oriented properly.

 

Yes, I did figure that out, but the tolerance at the shoulders where the pegs go into the combiner joint seems off to point where they just don’t want to stay in. Being able to get the upper arms together now helps a lot.
I did have to take out the pins to get arms the right direction. I had to do the same to one of Swindle’s legs. Whoever QC’d mine should be fired.

No problem at at and I agree with you. My personal headache with this set was putting in the rotors for Vortex and tabbing in anything. Besides having to bring in my toolset, needing to use legit force to pushing in tabs and ports had me questioning reality. I'm lucky I didn't have to remove pins, but QC definitely made this more frustrating than it needed to be.

 

I'm a big fan of this set. I was wondering is the ZA-08 (Comic/Toy Color) Die-cast chest version is:
a. Painted (Metallic or otherwise) like the later show colored version?
b. Treads on Brawl are rubber or plastic?
There is zero reviews on ZA-08 as far as I can find. All ZA-01-05 original reviews.

Sorry to bump the thread a bit.
I’m eyeing the metallic paint version of this set over on ShowzStore but these breakage reports REALLY have me second guessing. Is it even worth grabbing?

 

ShowZ will always have your back for replacement part requests with their after sales service.

As far as I know the only thing breaking was on vortex btw.

 

I won the QC lottery and haven’t had a problem at all with mine. The one issue I had was my fault where I got the large gun peg stuck in Blastoff, but as stated ShowZ took care of me.

 

Same here like @Dah Padre I got lucky in QC Dept about 99%. Why? My Brawl's cannon Tip broke(I bought it broke, fixed it with Gorilla Glue. Good as new now) Other than that Solid Champ Here. My   on it. BTW if your interested here's a comp pic of Toy Version with the Toon version.

I picked up the most recent release of Bruticon (metallic paint with the toon accurate diecast "shuttle" chestplate). Won the QC lottery (mostly) in that nothing was broken. HOWEVER, the updated chestplate had a big paint chip right on the front of it (which was luckily covered up nicely by a faction insignia).

 

I got the metalic set last year and l only have 2 minor issues. Vortex arms were assembled backwards and some loose joints on a few of the bots. Took 30 mins to correct these issues and now all good. Awesome set and great value if you can get it on sale. It typically goes on sale for about $360 at TFS and ShowZ. My fav is Swindle, it has working headlights in Alt mode.

 

Just letting you know, Zeta made 3 different versions(Toy version,Toy version with toon color and Pure Toon) Look at showz or whichever vendor you choose go with, look thru it thoroughly.

 

I have the metallic version.

My only point of breakage is that the post holding Brawl's turret is stressed. This wasn't a QC issue. It was from combined Bruticus falling when my shelf collapsed.

 

I know what you are saying, but there is nothing pure toon about this thing.

 

I need to get this set again. Had custom Toon parts on my set before I sold it, but now I want the more toy accurate one eventually. Great display piece either way

I have one no issues

 

I bought the original set when it first came out, I painted the thighs gray and still looks good but then I bought the unique toys version and they're just in my case then I bought the mmc version and got the liketoys upgrade set and now that's my bruticus, looks great and cartoon accurate.

 

It may be an old display, but I need to show my wife how a nicely staged game collection can look... I've finally exceeded the shelving I bought back during undergrad.
