I have the original and wanted to pick this guy up, but the thought of a Ruination repaint quickly shut that idea down.

 

I'm guessing you haven't handled this set in general? Those combiner legs have nothing to do with Onslaught.

I haven't seen reviews of him mostly because I wanted to avoid the temptation to start collecting a second size of Gestalts .
In between CHUG and the Zeta size, I chose the middle ground where Has/Tak & X-TRANSBOTS reside .
It's not the optimal decision , but it's the one I can afford to maintain .

Ok, so I'm trading my G1 toon colored version for the Toy one. Might as well help someone out instead of buying the Toy version direct.

My only question is...
It seems that they have fixed the swindle leg connection on the toon one, from what I've read here. Is it really that hard to fix??

Since I'm going to be trading mine (still on pre-order) for the "flawed" Toy version, it it really that hard to adjust the tension?

Does it use a spring mechanism? Is there a way to mod it.

Mind you I fixed every QC issue on Toyworlds Metallic Constructor. Even the stupid double jointed right shoulder that was basically frozen in place.

 

What kind of issues did you have with your Constructor?

Basically 5 of the 6 bots had issues.
In a lot of places, the plastic pegs were molded poorly and did not fit into their sleeves (you know when you have 2 pieces of plastic parts that are attached together). This left a lot of seems/gaps in the figures. Had to do a lot of disassembling, sanding and re-assembling.

Scavengers waist connection piece that locks his waist into place in bot mode, the connections tabs were too short and could not lock his waist in place. Also, his double shoulder joint for combined mode is fucked. Simply changing the spring or loosening the screws does not work. I posted a fix for that widespread issue on constructors forum (metallic one has this issue).

Scrappers right toe/foot was frozen in place. Basically the plastic tube that runs through the hole of the foot that creates the rotating movement was bent during the molding process. Imagine a bent rod through a straight sleeve. If forced, you would have snapped it. Requires boiling water/sanding of the tube in order to create a proper fit.

Bonecrushers double shoulder for combined mode is tight too, but can be fixed by simply adjusting the springs a bit. Biggest issue on him was..
In vehicle mode, his lower body/treads are suppose to lock in to the upper portions via 2 tabs. This prevents him from twisting at his treads when attempting to twist devastators combined form arm. You know, like how Hasbro's Titan Returns devastators shoulder rotate, by the treads. If not fixed, his "actual" shoulder joint becomes useless.

Now, if you're one of those guys who really doesn't know how to transform figures or "chooses" not too. You may miss a lot of the QC issues. But be aware, even though he is packed in limb mode, there is a lot of mistransformed parts. It's best, that if you get a gift set version, to transform each into bot mode, then vehicle, then back to limb.

All QC issues were able to be rectified, but took me a whole weekend....."sigh".

Me, I continually transform my figs back and forth and am dumbfounded at all the mistransformed pictures and videos of transformer figures on the web.

Like gcreations shuraking..... or EX edition Voltron. Those are almost ALWAYS mistransformed by video reviewers. Sorry, it's a pet peeve of mine.

 

Finally got the big guy together last night and I'm very impressed with no QC issues what so ever.
I do recall someone asking about thr knee to limb connector, they connect solid and tight and show no signs of wanting to separate

 

Did it come with just one head?

That new paint scheme does look nice.. No way I can justify buying it without selling off my original first though.

 

If I could stack them on top of each other like Reflector then I would’ve picked up this one too

So, turns out I won't be able to get any news on pup until at least Monday apparently. A bit of internet searching also tells me that if it's a primary tumour and in one place, and if the most common variety known as HCC, then surgery should be possible and should cure it too... If it isn't then it's pretty much confirmed that it's not treatable. But the commonality of the treatable type still gives me hope, so with that said, I've decided life can't be put on hold

I've just finished my waterslide decals, just letting them cure before manhandling them any further. I took shots of Swindle and Brawl as they came out the box, then in alt mode. One last joint shot with them both with decals in place... the other three will get done tomorrow. Then it's Bruticus mode too follow

 

Whoah, is that ultramagnus modified somehow? He no longer has that butt flap. How did you do it?
