I clearly lined up something wrong so I just turned it back to robot mode. Im not used to MP style figures or even ones this large. its a struggle. and not entirely clear in many videos at certain steps

If steps early on aren't done correctly it has a huge impact on the final planet mode.

For the legs connecting to the chest, I've seen people fold the leg up and just push the foot in toward the chest and wonder why it's so difficult to connect. If you Look at the connecting tab it's angled down, you need to get the securing lock underneath the tab and then push it up toward the tab

 

I do understand this. things just like to turn and twist and I can't reach them.

I am really not used to 3p stuff at all. worst part is I know what I have to do but actually doing it seems to not work as I intend with any 3p thing I get. Lemon tree shockwave is just as agonizing. but that and this are the things that I REQUIRED for the Horde I mean collection. and it is a right of passage to transform them no matter how painful and difficult. if I don't do it then I am no better then an anime statue collector.

There's not really any difference between third party or official, it just comes down to what solution the designer finds for that character. You could go for a third party like DX9 Carry and be amazed at how easy it is to transform for how much it achieves, its just on a figure by figure basis. Unfotunately, yes lemon tree is a more challenging one as well.. you just picked two designs on the tougher end.

Generally, the large the figure the more strength needed for locking tabs due to weight, if the leg securing tabs werent strong we would have lots of complaints that the planet just falls apart when on it's stand. Haslab achieved a very pain free transformation for Unicron but mostly, not much of it really transformed. Just folded into multiple sections sitting off the main body.

Glad you got there though, its a figure where if you have two with one in each mode side by side you can look at them and genuinely be shocked one can turn into the other. It's quite a marvel of toy design

I will say there is one massive glaring difference between official and 3p figures in terms of their creation. With official figures the designer and other people actually transform it before finalizing it, changing the transformation of it doesn’t work. When you look at a lot of 3p figures, it’s fairly obvious the designers never transformed the thing and simply base their assumption of its functionality on the 3D model.

 

Man I don’t get zeta. Why haven’t they done the green unicron of light or the energon repaint of unicron. It’s simple money being left on the table.

This is as good as mine is able to.
I believe you need to leave the Orange arm on the upper left a bit lifted. It will come down on its own once you press the chest in.

Did the screw covers and spikes today but have a couple loose parts that aren't covered in the guide. Can someone please help me out? What are these for?
