Interesting. Looks like the slot gets too narrow for the ring when you put the bases together, so you have to place it outside like that. But still--it works. Both base parts do lock together to get him high enough.

I did rather wish the group making this ring would also make a new stand. But either way it still looks so much better.

[EDIT] I just put my two bases together again, but I'm looking at the slot and it's pretty much the same width all the way through. So I wonder if you could 'thread' the bottom connection of the ring through them? Or were they made too thick and can't fit in the slot anyway?

I just want to say that I love this figure. I transformed it back and forth twice today, and I am just enthralled with it.

For anyone not enjoying the transformation, I strongly recommend the following video:

    https://youtu.be/BPkxYjdJ0-Q

    Thank you to the creator.

I did shave off the unnecessary ring tabs, and slightly shaved the rings for a better fit.

I also cut back a few of the locking tabs for a much smoother transformation.

So aside from a few tolerance issues that a file and exacto-blade can easily solve, this figure is absolutely amazing.

Any possibility on a group buy for the rings?

I think you can just buy the rings from showz or wherever, no real need for a group buy. It's not gonna help with shipping or anything since they have free shipping, I think people are only doing the group buy for tips because it's like $50 shipping for the tiny custom tips from Malaysia.

There is a center post, so either you rotate Cell and the rings are an “X”, or you have to drill a hole through the stands.

Actually, the stands already have a hole in them, and they look large enough for that post to "thread" through, possibly. My question is regarding if the ring and connector post are too thick for the hole in both bases and/or the slots on the sides of the stand.

I would assume if they could, they'd have taken the pictures that way already...

Not necessarily, sometimes the most obvious solution is often overlooked. Perhaps the photographer didn't feel like disconnecting the ring from the planet to thread it through the stacked bases.

891DAAE0-8EF3-450C-A86B-90B70F1DF49C.jpeg This is the issue as far as I can tell, with the new ring they double up the tips all the way to the root rather than them being cut in half and joining together like the original ring, the doubling appears to me to make the ring too thick to pass through slot in the stand

I’ll be sure to check whenever mine come in

    Thanks.

Though I would say this. Even with the post being double-wide, it feels like the base's hole at the top is plenty wide to fit it. The concern of course is the ring in the slots, like you said. The left side (in the picture) is a single ring, with the right side also being a double-thick ring. But I noticed this...

    unicron-ring.jpeg

...where they made those thinner panels in the ring. Is this designed to fit the slot on that side? It would be cool if they'd already thought of that.

Of course I'm asking all this, and I've got the rings on Pre-order from ShowZ already. Totally getting them regardless. This is just a matter of whether you can use the original two base pieces assembled, or if I have to find a new stand.
