Exactly. I tire of comments that "It doesn't transform properly" "the tabs don't tab in" "the ring breaks after transforming it".

That's all user error in my opinion. The transformation of this toy is purely genius.

I also backed Haslab, and was just on that forum. The more video reviews I see of Haslab, the more I just want to sell that monstrosity off. It's basically the 1st edition of TLK optimus prime all over again. Exactly the same. While Corestore is more like Toyworlds Knight Orian. Yea, the ball form isn't perfect, but it's much better than that mess of a robot with pancake stacks, belts, giant horns and spikes just dangling off all over the place as Hasbro's. I mean, you can "almost" basically completely remove the planet shell from Haslab and have it presented in both forms.... not really much of a transformer.

 

To be honest, it wouldn't be all that hard to make the perfect unicron using Corestar as the blue print. You would only need to do some molding changes to the outer panels, and also make it so when certian panels rotated, the opposite side would have blue instead of yellow panels. And then upsize it to 24+ inches  .

Haslab, that one would take a mountain of effort and have to probably be remade from the ground up to get a perfect Unicron.

 

I would buy an 8" version of him or a 4" if they could pull it off. I love tiny transformers.

 

Show Z is getting those bigger planet rings in. I don't know if I like the look of them honestly.

Got me a set just for planet mode.

 

I'm debating getting a second bot with the ring upgrade so I have alt and bot mode...

And use the wing tips upgrade on bot mode.

I think I'm crazy...

Edit: oh... Now he's sold out on showz. $300 was making that decision more appealing than $400 from US stores, so... Maybe not.

 

I am honestly surprised they aren't larger in robot mode. Both sets come down to about the knee, but the new set sticks out to the sides a little further in robot mode.

 

No one knows enough to say if the "wing tips" we ordered through Jbrock would be compatible with the larger rings? Probably not enough info on these new rings to figure it out yet.

 

Me too! I've transformed him a couple times but swore I wouldn't after that. Guess I'm wrong cause these rings look much better. Will need to try 'em on at least once. OR ... I leave him hanging in planet mode. Saves space that way.  

 

Did you see the picks of the guy who did just that? Granted all the photos of the planet shell were from the front, leading me to believe there’s a gaping hole in the back, but he managed about 2/3 of the planet mode sitting right next to the stripped down robot.

 

Wings are sitting up higher in that pic because they didn’t fold the extra hinge. There are other pictures showing this(the bottom of the wings passed the knees). Gives you options on how you want to display.

As rings they look great. Pretty meh as wings in any configuration IMHO.

 

Ordered. Also for Planet Mode only. I think the current wings for the BOT is spot-on as is.

they are bigger but only slightly, but to me they are the equivalent of Super Girl's Cape vs. superman's cape in that they are super short.

Unicron's wing tips should just be shy of touching the ground. they still look goofy here.

If I get a second for alt mode, I would suspend it from the ceiling. Or make a stand out of clear acrylic.
