I mean, that's kinda what I'd expect in the official thread for a highly anticipated figure.

 

I love the pics but this drives me nuts that I still don’t have him in my hands. I should’ve known better than to think I would actually get him on the day it says I would. This has been one massive cocktease of a wait.

 

Unicron's current status:

 

4 of the 12 short spikes are slightly longer. Do what you will with that info.

 

The transformation was a serious pita! So many parts didn't want to line up correctly. And the rings... grrr the rings! One side went together fairly easily but the other side just didn't want to peg into each other no matter how hard I tried. I finally pulled it off though I guess I could've just called the undone side the bottom and hid it in the stand. I had the warped horns like everybody else but, also like everybody else, all it took was done hot water. I didn't even boil it; just ran it hot from the tap.



For a time I considered sparing your wretched Oreo cookie. But now you shall witness... ITS DUNKING!



I'll probably transform him back tomorrow and get some more bot mode pics.

 

Do all copies have that QC sticker?

 

I would assume so but I wasn't aware of it until I saw it on mine. I meant to take it off before the pics but I forgot. I usually leave QC stickers on until I finish my first transformation without issue, just in case, but the transformation was so brutal, I wasn't thinking about it anymore by the time I was finished.

[Edit] Btw, I was curious so I took some measurements and did some math. If Unicron were the size of the moon, the shortest of his spikes would be right around 200 miles tall. If he were the size of Pluto, it'd be around 135 miles. If he were the size of Earth, it'd be over 700 miles tall. It's interesting to me just how difficult it is to wrap my head around the scale of a robot that turns into a planet. Even if we assumed he were Pluto's scale, Metroplex wouldn't even be visible to the naked eye standing on Zetacron. [Edit] Turns out that might not be correct. One source lists Metroplex as 800m tall. At that size, he'd appear as a speck of dust on Zetacron. A very small speck that you'd have to get in close and squint to see, but visible to the naked eye. And yes, I've totally nerd sniped myself with this thought experiment.

 

Yours is certainly not the first one I've seen with the QC sticker in this thread. I haven't really been looking for it to be honest, and there's no telling if folks have removed it before taking pictures of their own copy. Yours came from ShowZ, yeah?

If your happy modding the mod i did to the ring connectors sorted the issue of connecting them in planet mode / unconnecting them, for me. I posted pics on p218. The hooks are just a bit too big to get over each other sideways given the 2 tabs and fact you have to connect to the body before joining.

 

You're probably going to want to stop watching this thread very soon then, because I guarantee that everyone of us who are still waiting for our Unicron to arrive will be posting proud pictures of this amazing figure over the next few weeks.

no i get that and i understand the nature of the thread. i was mainly asking about the death star that was large enough for unicron to attack. i mean come on guys how many times to we see something like that posted here. which is why i asked about it.

I removed the two tabs near the hinge. Really, it only needs the hooks at the hinge as the hole it plugs into will hold it together.

Photograph him from his shin height looking up. Then he'll look imposing.

I think Unicron is actually rather small, relatively speaking. Consider that we can see city details on Cybertron from some distance. That far from Earth we wouldn't even see mountains. Also, apart from the scene where the spaceship goes through his eye he doesn't appear anywhere near as big: Megatron is easily visible on the horn; Galvatron can be picked up in his fingers; when the Autobots fly out of his eye and the Dinobots attack they appear much too big for that spaceship. In the 3rd season the head is more in scale with these moments so I think that spaceship-in-the-eye scene is the mistake.

 

that is the dx9 war in pocket galvatron. his official name is X-05 Tyrant i think. it has been some years but he came in the doom bringers set.

 

Now the long wait at New York customs. Unicron snuck out and is seeing the Big Apple. Chewing on the toe of the Statue of Liberty. Ate Hamilton ticket holders. Participated in a Coney Island eating contest, and felt right at home and welcomed on Wall Street.
