Looks like the face isnt shiny silver like the last couple times we saw it, I like that!
Yeah, looks to match the hands and feet better now. I know some prefer silver, but I think this looks a bit better, in my opinion.
Hmmm... wonder if these are being made in a 1:1 ratio with the bodies or if extras will be made for customizers? Would love to make a death scene head with cracked eyes and damage.
Hm. That's unfortunate but I suppose I can forgive it. No idea why everybody seems to want to de-metallize a bunch of robots who are supposed to be made of metal but ok. It's Zeta so they'll be doing a metallic repaint later. If they stick with their current model with the head and wings separate, maybe I can grab a head from the metallic release and swap the face. Or just paint it silver. Or just leave it be. *shrug*
It felt tacked on to me. If it had some of that metallic in other places or a less reflective shiny silver I think it coulda worked. Honestly it might be a bit plain now, I'd like paint of some kind but it's kinda hard to tell in the packaging. His face is mostly white in the movie, maybe a pearlescent off-white or something
Hope it’s painted grey instead of just grey plastic. Don’t want it looking cheap.
Looks better than the metallic silver to me.
Yeah, I think almost any paint is better than bare plastic
It's less about de-metallizing and more about color preference and uniformity for me. I always thought of Unicron's face and hands of being white or off-white, and I like his color scheme that way. So far, the gray that Zeta's using isn't quite what I would ideally prefer, but it's closer to what I want than the silver was. Ultimately, I'd rather this thing have a pearlescent white paint like Teletran-1 said, but that's probably not in the cards.
Still, I get that not everybody wants what I want. And I totally get being somewhat disappointed by the choice - your line of thinking is pretty similar to mine when I thought the face was going to be shiny silver.
I dunno. I have no problems with reduced paint. less chances of chipping. DX9 Gabriel for example is fine with minimal paint.
I think I've said this before but... come on, this is zeta. There will be repaints, translucent versions, golden ticket versions, weathered versions...
That's Toyworld. Zeta just do toy, toon and metallic
let's go single head listings where ya at...
For this release in particular, I feel like less paint is better for me personally. It needs to be well painted in specific spots but given the amount of panel folding/rotating/stacking this thing has to do I feel like it will keep scratching to a minimum with less surface area painted. I should say that I'm the type of collector that likes to regularly transformer and move around my collection.
I like the white face more. I still hope they'll do another version with more accurate plastic colors. The blue they used is way too bright
That's the way I feel. I have lots of unpainted TF toys that look amazing. Painted detail is great, but I see no reason to paint entire panels that look just as good in colored plastic.
Paint vs plastic is cool and all, but what about faces? I have almost never seen a unpainted face actually work. They always look bland or have mushy details.
Do you have examples for mushy details on unpainted faces? I can't think of any at the moment. I don't disagree with the bland part, but paint doesn't guarantee a lack of mushy details for me. XTB Skids, TT Ironhide/Ratchet, TT Hot Rod, Badcube Brawny are the ones that immediately come to mind.
What pops to mind for me is XTB Eligos, looks so unfinished compared to Quietus
That's a pretty convincing example!
