Whatever the overall transformation, it's cool. I think there are also panels we can't see. Look at the back of the legs (red arrow) you can see what appears to be another layer beneath the part that becomes the poles.

And look at the yellow arrow. I think that the armor bits on either side of the knees rotate. The little raised parts look like they may part of the back side of the planet. leg details.jpg

I can't see the "teeth" in the collar but if they are there, then maybe the obvious source of the pincers in planet mode are the robot horns?

Can't be, planet pincers are WAY too big. That's the top of his head peeking out from the teeth.

Okay, I can see the hinges for the teeth of the planet in the collar from this view. So yep, I agree, that's where they come from. upper body detail.jpg

Still at a loss for the pincers - could they be inside the collar? One of the planet shots looks like the pincers are hinged off the edge of the circle. So if that's the collar, then?

This is some serious origami. I prefer it to the Haslab one over all. But I don't know if I'll get it. I don't know where on earth I'd put it even at the size Zeta is making it, but I'm impressed and far more likely to try to find space for it than I would the Haslab one. Just no room at all for something that massive.

I don't know the price yet but honestly, personally I prefer this one to Hasbro's.

What I'm wondering is how much of this is like their Combaticons where the chest of Swindle and Onslaught, could flip to be a different look and feel, just cause they could! But in this case, it's to make a more seamless planet. It looks like his ankle planet-panel might be doing this anyway.

The amount that the planet mode is worse than the haslab one is minuscule compared to the amount that the robot mode is better than the haslab one - it's a worthy compromise. Haslab may as well come with a pringles can for parts storage when the stacks of panels end up snapping off thanks to shit QC.

Anyway, aren't you the one who's going to eat a hat when haslab fails? What flavor will you choose?

Here's the thing- I want my Unicron toys to turn into only half a planet. Or a big ball with appendages sticking out.

Or a futuristic hover tank with pincers and weird leg, claw, gun(?) things all over it for reasons.

The lengths that some of the diehard Hasbro fanboys will go just to hate on this is seriously amusing. It will be a cold day in hell before some of them even consider admitting that this one looks good in any way, let alone better than the official.

Thank you universe for not making me so blinded.

Anyone else reminded of Thor? Ahh zeta, ripping off the look of another toy!! Jk, zeta will be on my radar because of core star. I'm prolly like a bunch of us, vying to own both. Just wish the detail work wasn't so symmetrical.

Wait until coloured images come out and it gets torn apart for not being absolutely perfect in both modes.

    Holy. SHIT.

If it came in those colours it'd be an instabuy but let's not kid ourselves here. This is Zeta. The Kings of fucking up colour schemes and throwing in random shit.

Anything above $250 would be a non starter for me. Gabriel, my centerpiece and honestly near perfect to me in fit and finish, was $250, and that was almost too hard to commit to.

Anything above that would make me look at mp-44 or a 2nd Haslab's unicron more.

China price as given by zeta is estimated at $210. Shipped to the states (and most likely anywhere else) it will most likely be 270-300+
