Finally, something concrete. Funny, looks like the marketing strategy now is do everything possible to not look like unicron.

Lovely colors but the arms and hands look pretty plain and boring. And that grey plastic on the hands and feet is...

Did Toyworld (Or Zeta? Can't remember which was doing this) sell the design? That's definitely the same figure.

 

Tactic idea for third party products.

Example.

You want Optimus, ypu have to buy two seperate figures to get him. The top half of one will look weird and be made of cheap brittle plastic, but it's bottom half will be high quality Optimus legs. Opposite process for second half. One would have the front half of his head, with the rear wrapping around, with the other figure being the opposite. All you have to do is buy both figures, remove the crap halves, then recombine to become Optimus. The Optimus look wouldn't be marketed, nor would the design team ever acknowledge it.

 

Could be Zeta sold it. Could be 01-Studio is Zeta under a new name that Hasbro isn't mad at yet.

 

Finally. Now, let's get that ring size increased and we're good to go!

The colors are a bit off and the planet mode colors scheme is way off but eh I guess it's alright.

Releasing this under a different brand name was exactly what I was hoping they'd do.

And in full colour now! Looks like they've been making lots of progress! So happy this is back on, although I'll save the celebration for when it's finally released.

Also, it would be amusing if those were the official product photos (ie. deliberately half-transforming him, to make him look different enough from Unicron that they don't have Hasbro troubles).

 

01-Studio is Toyworld getting back at Zeta for taking all their molds. 3rd Party is mad petty.
