Fair enough, but it's an assumption at this point because we don't actually know what the colouration of the bot mode will be. The coloured versions, of which there have been a few different images, have all been guesses from the fandom. It could well be that they colour the planet mode 'correctly' and there are a few less-accurately coloured areas of the bot mode as a result. We just don't know until an official coloured photo is released.
Having said that, the official Unicron does have a coloured image so we can be sure how it will look - so if your plan is to have it sit in planet mode the majority of the time, it may well be the better choice for you.
(Personally if I was going to do that, I'd paint an inflatable ball and save myself a ton of money, but to each their own).

Maybe, but that's not what the original poster was suggesting (at least the way I read it). I understood that they had decided to buy both, then changed their mind about buying one of them and were trying to find reasons (including asking for reasons from others) to go through with buying the second one also. So it's a totally different situation to making a choice between two and still having a longing for the one you didn't pick.

We did have a full transformation video when the colored images were made, and those being based off the vid showed that the coloring would be a mess. Hopefully they choose the bot mode as the priority.

Yeah I see that the post was different now... idk, at that point feels like it’s a figure they still want and need justification to buy it... idk, it’s hard to understand that view point for me... if you want it... buy it....if your torn and can afford both... buy both. If you can’t afford both and have to choose one, life’s full of hard decisions and I guess this would be one of em.

    Hope so :p

while I am not one of the people who went "booo hasbro sucks" or "ha! suck it zeta!" when it was taken down, I understand hasbro's move. And with me wanting both of them, I look forward to seeing a fully funded haslab unicron and updates on this awesomely engineered dude!

Except we saw the digis a while back with the colors mapped to both modes and they looked great. Sure, there were a few compromises but it was not "pretty bad" by any stretch of the imagination. Unless you're using "bad" in the '80s sense, in which case, yes, it will be so bad.

Personally, the digis of planet mode looked at best passable to me, especially compared to Haslab.

Zeta's inaccurate planet trumps Hasbros inaccurate bot.

That said, you could easily argue that Unicrons primary mode was planet mode and if any option has sacrifices it should be his alt mode ( bot ) so I can see why people would pick either.

It is 100% my own opinion…
But I think YOUR way of thinking is lunacy.

I agree that the official's planet mode is spot on DOPE. And if I bought it, it would stay in planet mode 95% of the time…
Which is why I can no longer justify it.
I'd pay $150-$200 for a non transforming planetcron that looked that good, and was that big.
    But $600???

Anybody paying $600 for a basketball and rim, not signed by Michael Jordan needs…
Let's just say, I was IN that camp for a while, had my head examined, then pimp-slapped, and I've been "ok" since. :D

I'm not buying a planet for $600, just because he CAN transform, when I know damned well, he never will be.

I hope he gets made, and those that want him, get him (or two). We as a collective fan base deserve this (or a better one) representation of our '80's youth.
And I'd have no problem shelling out $600 for a toy I deemed worthy.
    But $600 for a basketball?

    Nope.

It's not like I said you were wrong. Simply that I don't understand it.
I got no problem with you being you.:thumbs2:

Not to stir the pot, but you did basically call him wrong. Specifically:

That could be interpreted as pretty rude, insofar as you can read that as basically calling everyone buying the Haslab version irrational at best and insane at worst. I mean, I get that you're probably just kidding around, but it's not too far off to see how someone might be upset by the statement.

I know a lot of people pooh-pooh the blue text, but I think it helps honestly.

At any rate, I can see where you're coming from - $600 for a figure you're never going to transform seems like a lot. In fact, you know what? It IS a lot. However, I collect lots of stuff and if you really look at what other fandoms spend their cash on, what we get is pretty spectacular. A lot of people will drop a lot of coin on crazy stuff like collector's statutes that don't do boo but sit there and collect dust.

For example, this damn Bayverse Galvatron was $1,899.00:

At a price point closer to Unicron, there's the 21" tall Rosie Big Daddy:

I'd say a gigantic planet at $600 representing a near screen accurate image of one of the defining villians of 80's cartoon history isn't so bad, even if he never Transforms. Maybe I should start hanging around pimps so I can receive my requisite slaps.

Have you or someone you know been considering buying Haslab Unicron? Have an irrational urge to spend $600 on a toy? If so, call the Center for Collectors' Health and speak to one of our receptionists about scheduling a counseling session. You don't have to live with these symptoms - CCH is here for you.

Call within the next 15 minutes and we'll throw in a bonus $2000 non-transforming statue counseling session absolutely free.
