He arrived late today, so I only had time to unbox and pose. I’ll get batteries installed tonight and probably have more photos and get to know this figure a little better over the weekend.
First impressions are interesting. There’s definitely a problem with the wings attachment point to the body. Instructions are a joke. Mine came neatly packed in one box, but the face and wings were bubble packed under the blister. I knew he would come faceless but I was not prepared for what looked like another of Murder Prime’s victims. Overall, I love the tightness of the joints, the face sculpt and the paint quality.
Out of the box, had to introduce him to my TC-02, though.

It’s worth noting that his entire leg, pelvis, and arm assembly can support TC-02 here beyond his center of gravity without drooping.

Yes, if you can wait for a revised version, wait. After doing a little work, the wings still droop or just fall out if I look at it funny. I don’t mind doing a little work because I was planning on it anyway, but I know that’s not everyone’s bag. Still a fantastic looking figure though.

Do you mean the shoulder wings or the back wings droop? Or both? Cool pics BTW!

Good on ShowZ and Zeta trying to make it right even if it's not perfect.

I did a whole day of house work and yard work and my hands were aching before I started on this conversion. It was WAY worse than I thought possible, especially without good instructions. The wings issue makes him a partsformer for sure.
I wasn’t able to get it fully flush and tabbed in everywhere and there were globs of grease applied everywhere.
The main body is STURDY. And in some cases the joints are TOO tight, but I never felt like I was stressing anything too much, which was good.
The tabbing in feels very satisfying, they’ve opted for a strange “puzzle piece” type of fitting for many of the tabs that I haven’t seen in other 3rd party before. The paint application felt solid throughout, I was never in danger of having it rub off and didn’t notice any scraping or clearance issues. I unboxed it at my workbench so I don’t know if the painty smell was from the figure or my paints, but it wasn’t by any means overpowering.
I’m certain I’m doing something wrong or the tolerances are off because I couldn’t tab in the underbelly because of the arms positions.
But other than the pain of conversion he makes a VERY tidy jet, and the proportions look way better to me in person and closer to the profile of an F4 Phantom.
I’ll have to go backwards and try to find a better guide to see where I might have gone wrong with the legs/arms to get a better fitting jet mode.
Overall, great looking and sturdy (except bot mode wings, jet mode tabs in very securely) but not so much fun to figure out.

    That’s... not the Air Force...

[edit]: I figured it out, I did not compress the elbows inside of the forearms, now everything is tabbed in and tight! The jet mode fuselage is gorgeous!

A plane bot with no kibble under it? It can only be a revolutionary figure. I don't remember another plane that didn't have kibble under it.

I think only the Mechanical Alliance SX-01 has a better looking underbelly. The entire profile of Zeta Flash reminds me of the MP-3 Starscream and how impressed I was with the first brush with Masterpiece engineering in service of the alt.

I mean that's a given, that's the same design as zetas.

I think the only other clean jet modes we've gotten is something like dragoon and some jwts from Hasbro.

Thunder Warrior really has a better underbelly. I was looking it rn
And yh Dragoon has a good underbelly. It may not be perfect but it's good

Oh I just remembered. The SS oversized Blackout, also the SS I guess, has no kibble underbelly. Instead he has kibble in the arms, but that's great.

For reference since I haven’t seen one yet and I’m about to convert it back to bot mode.

Well as I said thunder worrier is zeta’s old design, so it's really barely worth mentioning, to me anyway.

That's a big simplification imo. They are two different figures with their own pros and cons.
