I know that there's already a thread about this trailer, but that thread is thirty pages long at this point and doesn't include the trailer. So, let's start anew, shall we?

It's not in the OP of that thread and isn't on the first page either. A new poster to that thread would be confused; this makes things much easier.

I just watched the trailer and there's no reason to believe that Lockdown is actually talking to Prime, other than slick editing. The shot in which Lockdown is shown kneeling and saying "You think you were born? You were built, and they want you back" does not include Prime; it isn't clear whom Lockdown is talking to. I'm guessing that he was talking to Galvatron, whom was literally built, by Humans.

Galvatron isn't sentient at that point though. He's being controlled by humans, there's no one for him to go back to because he hasn't gone anywhere. Everything points to optimus

I highly doubt that they'd give away such a huge plot point in the trailers.

We'll just have to wait and see. But I do think he was talking to Galvatron.

Actually not a big of a plot point.

We already know Lockdown was hired to capture Prime (which makes sense why he would be talking to him and not a human controlled drone such as Galvatron) so Lockdown telling Prime that his client wants him is giving away nothing.

Now if he had mentioned his client by name, (i.e. the Quints or Unicron (whom Id hate if it was) or whoever) then it would be a big plot point.

    Just saying...

The theory that Lockdown was talking to Prime makes no sense because "Primes are born, not made," which is what Optimus says in Revenge of the Fallen, the novel. How could Optimus be built if he descends from the original Primes?

We must conclude that Galvatron has some degree of sentience/ sapience while under Human control. Think of Majin Vegeta or Deborah from DragonBall Z; they were both sentient/ sapient, but were under Babidi's control.

Maybe optimus was created as Orion and then made a prime like in the other transformers mythos?

That doesn't work with the films' fictional universe, because it is explicitly said in the films' universe that Optimus Prime descends from the original Primes.

Why would you hate it if it was unicron? Just curious, I've seen a bit of hate toward the idea of unicron and i don't really get it. Btw this is pure curiosity not meant to be taken negatively

It is never said in the movies that primes are born, not made. If OP was born, who birthed him? It wasn't the first 13 Primes as The Fallen tells OP to die like his Brothers. OP, they were your brothers too.

Descendent: something that developed from another thing that was made or existed earlier.

he's old news, people want something new. if we don't leave the past behind we would never have got something like Lockdown.

and is it really exciting that he can only be killed by the magic of the matrix?
thats boring to me. give me a character with story and a great fight scene any day over someone randomly opening the matrix up.

matrix was opened. game over. roll credits.

Does it even say in the movies that Prime descends from them? I don't remember that.

This is why I'd like to see Liege Maximo. He's a character that could be made to be a massive character if used. Not much has been done with him and its something that would be very new and fresh, rather than the continuous Unicron story. But the Quints would be just as good IMO.

Jetfire tells Sam that they must have met a great descendent of the Primes.

IMO Liege Maximo would just be a rehash of the Fallen. "Oh hey, look, here's yet another super secret Decepticon boss that we didn't tell you about." To me, the logical progression is to tell how the Transformers were created.

I prefer the original idea that Optimus is a descendant of the first Primes. Now if they throw that out the window and introduce something else to replace it then I won't like that much.
