So Hasbro/Paramount seem to be taking their time with future TF films, finding the direction they want, which is a good thing. One thing fans and producers seem to agree on is that leaning into the G1 themes/aesthetics in Bumblebee was a successful move, and there will surely be a lot more of that to come. So what classic/iconic shots, sequences, lines, designs, plot points, etc would you like to see included in future TF films? My biggest want, personally, is a faithful and brutal recreation of Optimus Prime and Megatron's 'good old fashioned Cybertronian showdown' on top of a bursting dam that was an iconic sequence in MTMTE P2 in 1984 and recreated by Marvel UK in good faith in 1985. With Hoover Dam already involved as the Sector 7 BO, I feel like that's the perfect setting for such a melee.
I know that Galvatron is probably a long way off for the films but I've always wanted to see this shot done with modern day effects. Also a shot with the three main Decepticons together in designs closer to G1.
Eh, I don't so much want more fan service things (because really that's not gonna make or break the movie), as I do more of an awareness of, and willingness to utilize where appropriate, characters and other elements of the Transformers mythology BEYOND G1 and Michael Bay and the Bumblebee & Optimus Show...and the more they keep away from things the movies have already used, the better. I'm not in any huge hurry to get both the Matrix and Unicron back for the express purpose of rehashing TF:TM - Hollywood in general is already suffering a severe case of Franchise-Nostalgia Addiction as it is. I've already mentioned elsewhere all the non-G1 characters I'd like to see the filmmakers pick and choose from. As for other mythos elements from the brand, maybe not so much O-Parts or Cyber Planet Keys (because we don't need any more cosmic-treasure-hunt crap, really), but at least TRY to give us stuff like Supercharging, Minicons, Powerlinx, Omnicons, the Spark of Combination, the Cyber Planets themselves, the Elite Guard, Project Omega, MECH, even Dark Energon.
Lessee...we've already had loose adaptations of BOT, Ultimate Doom, A Decepticon Raider in King Arthur's Court, Marvel #1 and Fire In The Sky (in the desert?). I guess give The Golden Lagoon a crack?
First off, we have gotten TONS of fan service already from all six movies, from the opening battle of Bumblebee, complete with G1-style Cybertronian Seeker alt modes, to TLK having plenty of commonality with "Madman's Paradise," to AoE's combination of some Animated-inspired plot points and characters with Five Faces of Darkness, Part 1," to DotM combining "Megatron's Master Plan" and "The Ultimate Doom" and even featuring a scene straight out of "Atlantis, Arise!" Not to mention RotF having aspects of "Changing Gears" and the 2007 movie being the Bayverse equivalent of the pilot G1 episode. Second, I prefer seeing visions of Transformers that don't match my own, which is why I like it when Transformers gets weird, even though my ideas for Transformers are usually unusual themselves. With that said, here would be my top desires: The Golden Lagoon: I have always loved this episode and the character of Beachcomber. Seeing a pacifistic Autobot who cares for causes other than humans, other Autobots, Cybertron, and fighting Decepticons could be Shrektastic! Webworld, with Galvatron being so insane his own troops plan mutiny, and he gets committed to Torkulon for therapy, but he's so crazy his mind overwhelms the whole planet. An updated, preferably slightly longer version of Sixshot's Rebirth appearance where he takes out multiple Autobots by himself. This is fan service based on the existing films, but I want to see more KSI cubeforming transformations! Seeing new versions of those would be awesome! Also, more Stupid Drones, preferably with those whips found in the concept art. Finally, a Transformers version of Shrek's rescue of Fiona from the dragon.
I'd love to hear the classic theme song as an instrumental piece. Maybe not even the full thing, maybe just the "Transformers, more than meets the eye" motif could be incorporated into a longer musical piece, and we could hear it during a pivotal moment. That would be so cool. And I'm pretty surprised they haven't done this yet. The Transformers theme is one of the more well-known cartoon theme songs. If used at the right moment, I could see it easily being a cheer moment, even among casual viewers. Even more than something like "one shall stand, one shall fall", which has appeared. I'd also like to see the Ark used as an Autobot base. I honestly miss this in recent Transformers media, not just the movies. I find it boring when the Autobots just hang out at a military base or something. Give them a cool-looking headquarters. And the ship crashed in the volcano would make a really neat visual. Maybe don't make it bright orange, but silver with orange markings? Also, I'd love to see some reference to Soundwave as a tape deck. Maybe not literally transforming into one, but possibly turning to a car with a stereo that resembles his G1 alternate mode? Something like that would be fun.
I'd like to see the Quintessons featured in a story again. They're such charismatic villains yet they're afforded such little attention by the franchise at large. It'd be cool to see them show up in a cartoon some time, maybe even have them meet Primus.
Both a proper "Autobots, Transform and Roll Out!" and a "Decepticons, Transform and Rise Up!" Plot-wise, Starscream and/or Shockwave actually acting treacherously, versus being just a cowardly suck-up and a silent brute, respectively. A semi-adaptation of "Starscream's Brigade" featuring the Combaticons or Shockwave seeding prehistoric Earth with Energon/creating the Dinobots are the specific stories I'd be interested to see. Thundercracker defecting from the Decepticons and becoming a neutral like in IDW.
All on Cybertron focused on how the great war truly started with attempted negotiations gone to hell.
I really want to see Bumblebee shoot a decepticon the way he shot Breakdown in Transformers Prime when he held him with one arm
