That Animated is a throwback to G1 goes without saying. The characters, the designs, the voice cast, the cameos... it's like reliving the eighties all over again. But what G1 will undoubtably be remembered for is the movie. Marketing purposes aside, it was a classic story of Good VS. Evil that has established many key elements in the TF universe. If Animated continues to go strong, there's a high likelihood that the show will continue the pattern laid down twenty years ago with a feature length movie. But what will that mean? I don't expect a carbon-copy of the plot, but will an Animated film follow the same template as TFTM? Will the film's tone be noticeably darker (possibly with a pinch of swearing)? Will the current cast be killed off in favour of a new batch of toys? Will Unicron be a key player? Or perhaps a movie won't be made at all, and you have your own ideas about the future of Animated. Gaze into your crystal ball and tell us what you see...
Considering that we have live action movies, I highly doubt that there will be an Animated movie in the theaters. However, I think it is possible that they could do a TV type movie for Animated.
I could defeinitely see CN getting a special together, like Teen Titans Trouble in Tokyo. But beyond that, no I doubt we'll have a movie.
id love to see a little bit darker direct-to-dvd movie, but i dont think id want anyone killed off, maybe changed, like megatron to galvatron, but i like the cast too much to just kill them off. same way i felt about the G1 movie by killing off all the old cast, i lost a lot of interest.
I think it all depends on where the popularity takes it. If the series becomes around G1 popularity with kids it might get one in thearters between live action releases. If it doesn't but is popular never the less more than most shows then I think it get a straight to TV followed by DVD release of it. I think Hasbro's approach has evolved since G1 so I don't think it would be a marketing ploy to bring in new toy line "characters" but I do think it will be used to transition the series to another mood possibly more serious. I think there is a possiblity of character death like Ratchet or Blitzwing but not on the scale of OP like in the orignal movie, I think they learned that killing off uber popular characters = series suicide.
It seems anything is possible these days. Who knows, but it sure would be neat if it did happen. I definatly could see this new series becoming very popular with kids. Maybe even on the level that G1 did in 84-85. SHit, if Power Puff Girls can have a movie, why the hell not? Surely with the huge hit of the live action movie parents might be more inclined to take their kids to an animated TF movie. At least it shouldn't bomb like the original animated film did. It might do respecitable numbers like the First Pokemon movie. I for one would love to see this happen, because I want to know just how far this sort of style can be pushed quality wise.
Odds are we'll at least get a TV movie. A lot of CN properties have gotten one. Though to be honest, I'm looking forward to the inevitable Christmas special. It's a CN show, so it's likely gonna happen.
Like some of u have said, a TV or direct to DVD movie might happen if the series does well generally.
Very likely, but I'm hoping for a flashback movie based on the end of the Great War. This would give us a new cast of characters to work with without "killing" off any current cast members as well as a chance to see how some bot's like Ratchet got to be the way they are today. I say a flashback as it would use the current cast to set up the past and to draw a conclusion based on a lesson learned. (maybe from a past mistake) This would also work for a line of toys with a Cybertron look to them. (Animated War Within so to speak)
If another animated movie did come out I would hope that the tone is more light hearted than dark. I don't take it seriously as much as I used to and just want the Fun factor more now.
straight to dvd would be cool but i hope this lasts for a few years kinda like the way we kept armada alive here through the energon and cybertron series.
