First: Bumblebee. He was obviously well featured in the cartoon and was the first transformer my dad got me. As for today, I don't know, I don't watch a lot of the modern stuff, I stopped after Prime and Animated, so I guess there's several of the G1/Beast Characters I like, but can't narrow down to one favorite

 

My first transformers toy, it was G1 Soundwave, still have it after 30+ years

 

My first favorite was G1 Sideswipe. A fast, young but experienced, reckless warrior that loves to get into a fight & doesn’t hesitate to play dirty to win.
He makes me think of Will Scarlet from Robin Hood- the red association between the two of them is obvious, but also they both seem like young (but not dumb) warriors. Like, Hot Rod is a young hot head that flies off the handle & comes off as immature in the movie. Sideswipe is a few rungs above him in the maturity & experience dept.

Now, my favorite is probably BW Megatron. The guy is incredible.

 

Rodimus is the character that's resonated with me most my entire life. Wheeljack's always been a close second, though. Lately I've begun gravitating toward Beachcomber, because man could I use a slice of chill. Brash young guy is starting to give way to tired older guy. x.x But at least I still have my humor and wit. Now if only I could do away with that temper...

I don't think I had one single favorite as a G1 kid, but had a short list of favorites which consisted of Optimus, Grimlock, Jazz, and Brawn (cartoon versions, I didn't get to read the chance to read the Marvel Comics versions growing up outside the first few issues). I guess aspects of all 4 of those characters appealed to different parts of me, and probably still do.

It's really hard figuring out a particular recent single favorite. Maybe old IDW universe Thundercracker. If we're talking 2019 IDW, maybe Chromia by default, because it's Chromia as a cop (too soon to tell).

 

Prowl was my favorite as a kid. Inferno is really growing on me since I got his MP figure, it is fantastic.

My first favorite was Optimus Prime. My current favorite is a toss up between Optimus Prime and Star Saber depending on when you ask me.

 

Hmm G1 Grimlock was my favorite. I just loved the dinobots. Also really liked G1 Jazz and Mirage.

And today i think it's Megatron. I really liked him in the movies, but i mostly rediscovered him in the IDW comics. They gave him more depth, he's not just a linear pure evil character anymore, makes him more interesting.

 

Starscream, now and always

 

As a kid, G1 Soundwave and Shockwave.
Those were the two cool dudes to 80s child me. Soundwave because of the toon, Shockwave because of the comics.

Now it's Megatron, because his character has become so much more than the one-dimensional tyrant he was in G1. It's the Prime version and the IDW version that makes me love him as a character. Also have really become fond of Ratchet for the same reasons - Prime and IDW.

 

When I first got into transformers I really liked G1 grimlock. I loved the idea of a big, mechanical dinosaur, and I liked the way he looked. Nowadays though, I'd say either lugnut or IDW cyclonus.

 

My 1st favorite was Skywarp. But I love real military aircraft, especially jets. I loved his Alt-mode(F-15). Still my favorite TF. Starscream and Thundercracker were my 2nd and 3rd choices, for the same reason. I prefer his color scheme. Had/has nothing to do with their personalities.

There's an F-16 alt-mode character. That''s my favorite jet. But I first knew Skywarp, so I stick with him.

 

First was Bumblebee...or Jazz. I can´t remember anymore. But now, for years already, its Starscream (but Thundercracker and Skywarp right after).

 

Mid 80s.... Metroplex. The back of the boxes back then had him in city mode, but his head stuck out lol.

 

Tailgate has a special meaning to me, as it was the first bot that I bought. (I had others earlier as gifts.)
Shockwave has some special meaning, too.

For recent, I've been pleased with several non-G1 characters in the CW/TR/PotP lines. No favorites, and don't remember the names off-hand.

Optimus first, swerve most recent.

 

Well Wheeljack for the inventive and the transformation and looks of him. Then after awhile i went to Jazz cause hes a music guy like myself and loves loud rock music. Hes been 1 of my favorites for awhile but really Wheeljack and Jazz both are my equal favorite no change to me in love of character.
