The first movie completely changed my opinion of Transformers. Before it came out, a friend showed me some episodes of G1 at his house that he had on DVD. I found the show utterly ridiculous. The cheesiness of everything from dialogue to fight scenes, plot devices that weren't established before they were shown making a difference, and the constant size and color changing of characters completely ruined the experience.

Then I saw a trailer for the first movie. I thought that looked cool, so I gave it a chance and watched it. It was the best movie I had ever seen.

That is, until ROTF. TF1 had made a fan out of me to the point of being extra attentive to detail when it came to anything Transformers-related, so when ROTF came out I actually understood the plot perfectly. Because I properly understood the plot, I was able to enjoy it more than the first movie.

And then DOTM. That movie completely blew me away. Until the release of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 earlier this year, DOTM remained the best movie I had seen.

After DOTM, I explored other things, like Beast Wars (Awesome.), Animated (Decent.), and Transformers Prime. (More than awesome.) After that I took a bit of a hiatus from Transformers due to a lack of new content and became very immersed in Halo. However, at my little brother's request, we re-watched DOTM, and that re-invigorated my interest in Transformers.

Then I came across FOC and WFC, which took the movies' place as my favorite iteration of Transformers. Great games. I still play them today. Still love the movies though.

Now, we're just 7 days away from AOE. Definitely looks great judging by trailers. Hoping the movie will be the best yet.

Maybe it'll re-take the favorite spot...

    It was seven years ago.
I was only slightly aware that there was a Transformers movie out.
Stepfather takes me to go see a movie at the nearby theater. Turns out to be Transformers. It was kind of awesome. Optimus Prime is Hero, Bumblbee gets his voice back, Louis Stevens is Louis Stevens, John Tuturro is wierd, Megan Fox is Kind of hot.
Two years later. ROTF Comes out.
I go and see it in theaters. Come out slightly disappointed. Titular Villain Turns out to be overhyped wuss (He loses to the same guy his subordinate wastes thirty minutes into the film), Devastator is an overhyped Wuss (Loses to Skids and mudflap), Demolishor is an overhyped wuss (five minutes of screentime after a spotlight in the Super Bowl Trailer... Just to get wasted after that footage from the trailer), Skids and Mudflap make idiots of themselves, Bumblebee can't talk again, Megan Fox is still kinda hot, Louis Stevens is still Louis Stevens(Now with more crazy), John Tuturro is still weird. Pretender Alice creepy.
A year and a half pass.
I end up in the PCGamer Minecraft Server with one of the people Animating for Dark Of The Moon. He tells me of this "Collossus" that knocks down a building.
Six months later, Transformers: Dark of the moon comes out.
I go and see it. It's okay (Not as good as the original, but not as bad as ROTF). "Collossus" turns out to be nameless Driller monster, Optimus Prime still hero, Bumblebee still can't talk, Megan Fox gone, Replaced by Hotter chick Rosie Huntington-Whitely (unf), John Tuturro still weird (but now he has a weird sidekick in the form of that "Leaf on the wind" guy from Serenity who got impaled at the end), Frances McDormand is weird, too (And also all Governmenty), Ken Jeong is weird, too(DEEEP WANG!), Lazerbeak is creepy, Starscream is a pussy (Beaten by Louis Stevens. You LOSE your Cybertronian dude card), Skids and Mudflap are now Wheelie and Brains (And voiced by the same actors), The Wreckers are... okay, and Shockwave is... not so big problem.

Seeing the 2007 movie was one of the most fun movie-going experiences of my life. The theater was packed. Everyone in the seats was a fan. When Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen) started speaking everyone cheered. We all laughed at the jokes. At the end, everyone clapped. Leaving the theater, the crowd was laughing and chatting. It was a blast.

That's a lot like me! I watched G1 when I was a baby because of my older brothers. And then after seeing the live action film I became a huge fan. Starting exploring a lot more and found it awesome.

Every single Michael Bay Transformers movie gives me a headache and I'm proud of it.

My first Transformers film was the 1986 animated movie. I was 5 years old and found it in the VHS rental section at a local movie rental place (remember when those were a thing?).

My parents had already bought me a couple transformers....Quickmix and Needlenose, so I would have two guys to pit against each other, and a few micromaster sets, since that was what was on the shelves at the time (it was 1990). I built a few rudimentary fascimiles of season 1 characters using lego sets.

I'd seen most of season 1 of the original cartoon, through video rentals.

I watched the movie and thought it was the coolest thing ever, though I didn't really have much of a reaction to Prime's death.

I then proceeded to rent it every single time we rented movies for the next year or so until my parents forbade me from getting it again. I'm pretty sure they both still have every song memorized, poor poor parents.

You know that old joke about a guy who goes to the doctor complaining that it hurts when he does certain things, and the doctor just tells him to quit doing them?

    Congratulations, you're a punchline.

Saw the '07 movie when I was 12, we sat right in the very front row (about 15-20 feet from the screen), & being that close with the shaky action sequences got me dizzy, due to my motion sickness. Around the time when the autobots were trying to hide in the back yard, I got up from my seat to try to go to a trash can, but got about 20 feet away from it & I ended up vomiting all over the floor. I bet the staff was happy. My parents & I ended up leaving & coming to see the rest of it the next day. To this day, I remember TF'07 as the only movie to ever make me sick. Completely unrelated, but I remember the best/funniest moment of seeing a Transformers movie in theatres was going to see DOTM on June 28, 2011 for the IMAX 9:00 p.m. sneak showing. During the scene where Sentinel kills Ironhide, some guy a few rows down from me just lost it & loudly asked "What the fuck!?" when Sentinel shot him the first time, followed by a loud exclamation of "WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!" when he "discharged him from duty", (I about pissed myself at that point) & when Ironhide rusted to death, He said "Fuck you Bay!" & stormed out. I think he liked Ironhide.

You got sick at a normal movie, but you did fine watching the third one in IMAX? What'd you do, load up on motion sickness pills before you went?

My mom has damage to her inner ear from an infection she had as a baby, and she has horrible balance. She can't go to IMAX movies because they always make her sick, regardless of what movie it is.
