For me it'd have to be Krok. I love these characters most as an ensemble but Krok's aspirations as a therapist is really intriguing. He seemed like the straight man of the group, but the revelation of his habits added a whole new layer to me. His dream of opening a sort of therapy clinic was really endearing too.

Misfire is my second favorite. Just wanna bring that up. Love the origin of his name in this continuity.

 

Felt disloyal not to include my boy Grimlock.

 

I like the character of Spinister, but I don’t like that they assigned this personality to Spinister. G1 Spinister is cool, intelligent, mysterious and aloof. IDW Spinister is anything but. I originally thought that it was all an act and the real Spinister would reveal himself later, but no; they made him the dumbest Transformers character ever. He’s still funny and likeable, just not the real Spinister to me. They should have assigned this personality to someone else.

 

Misfire, his story with Grimlock was genuinely sweet, and his stealth arc of never hitting anything and finally shooting a bunch of dudes at close range was pretty satisfying for the guy.

I like Krok and his development quite a bit as well.

 

I love them ALL for different reasons, but I think Crankcase's grouchiness (BAH!) combined with his quick thinking in several situations give him a slight edge over the others for me. And his interactions with "Cons4Eva" show he can have a soft spot and empathy for others besides himself.

 

If anyone's interested, here's the VAs I have in mind:

Colm Meaney as Krok.

John Kassir as Misfire.

Matt Freezer as Fulcrum.

Thomas F. Wilson as Spinister.

Charlie Adler as Crankcase.

 

I actually really like how his experience being a ship pilot actually culminates to him piloting the Lost Light in the finale. Also his grumpiness being partially explained by the fact that the other Scavengers took over HIS ship and essentially had him captive until he eventually relented and decided to work with them. Also that callback to Stormbringer like geez, Crankcase is definitely like an ideal IDW1 character for me.

I am glad that they got integrated into the main crew at the end. They really did highlight the idea that in war, sometimes the other side is just guys trying to get on with life, just like your lot.

Favourite does not always equal Best.

He is the best Scavenger no doubt, but he isn't My Favourite.

I'll take second (not that Spinister would even understand what was happening_)

 

Spinister:"Huh? Were you talking? I was busy giving that wall directions to the bathroom."

 

Actually, if you are writing a fic, Spinister is really useful to have around.

I frequently have him do or say strange things that move the plot along because he is picking up on many things the other characters do not pay attention to, and about 50% of the time he's having hallucinations or delusions, but the other 50% of the time, it's real and he's right.

It is also fun to have him walk up to a character in need of medical attention, grab them or twist something painfully, and suddenly the character's pain is gone, because he put something that was out of place back into place--he just didn't bother to warn them of their condition or that he intended to treat it.

 

I voted for Crankcase. Best line in the franchise: "Bah!"

Honourable mention for Krok. I always like the more reasonable Decepticons which is why I wasn't happy how IDW portrayed Spinister and Needlenose.

He was a bully when he and Horribull were working as law enforcers.

 

You mean when they were acting as "law enforcers" with I/D chips in their heads as autobot cannon fodder?

Horri-bull was a bully generally. Needlenose in later issues turned out to be pretty thoughtful--he was just spikematised by Horri-Bull.
