So, yeah. TF has had a lot of different aesthetics over the years, and I felt like making a topic about it.

My favorite TF aesthetic has got to be Animated's look. There's something to be said for each character having vastly different silhouettes, and the varying body-types allowing for more unique transformations. Plus, the designs have far more personality than any other series. Plus, they all have different faces and heads, which is awesome. At a close second, I'd probably put Prime - it's like Animated, but a bit more complicated and Movie-esque. I'm not sure if it counts, but I'd also put G1 TFs drawn by Nick Roche in here - it's a nice hybrid between the expressiveness and stylization of Animated with the classical look.

My least favorite aesthetic is probably WFC/FOC. Considering how most of the TFs have the same "Balloonformers" proportions, and they all turn into Cybertronian vehicle modes of various unconvincing-ness (Hell, WFC Megatron was a less convincing vehicle than Movie 1 Megatron. Seriously.), and the combination of the things I like least about the G1 aesthetics and the Movie aesthetics make this a look I'd rather see discarded once the WFC/FOC series is over.

 

Favorite: Movies, WFC/FoC, and Animated

Least: Unicron trilogy, G1

 

Favorite: Bayverse. I love the more detailed, realistic look and the uniqueness between characters.

Least favorite: Animated. The most unrealistic looking aesthetic IMO.

 

My favorite is by far the WFC. LOVE that look.

I despise the movie aesthetic. That look needs to die in a horrible horrible fire.

 

Favourite: Movie, hands down. The sheer complexity of the vehicles/appliances splitting apart and rearranging into huge metallic beings is utterly gorgeous in its details and sense of scale.

Least favourite: Hm, I don't really have a least favourite. Maybe G1 for being the least exciting to me, but I still like the simplicity of it  

 

Favorite: Animated and movies tied. Everyone is so different and exudes their personality.

Least favorite: 80's G1. Just about all the characters looked like generic robots with a little kibble as armor. Modern homages to that style such as IDW are a lot mor organic and smooth though.

Best is Animated. Worst is FOC. Yay for everyone being their G1 selves except fatter and with TRON lines!

WFC/FOC is by far the worst. They make PatLeeformers look anorexic.

I liked the Autobot movie designs but the decepticons designs were just bad imo.
Most of wfc/focs designs are pretty good as well and I might as well add G1 or updated G1 designs in there as well.

My least favourite would have to be the unicron trilogies kibble and Animated's proportions.

 

Favorite: G1/IDW

Least: Movie

 

Favourite: TFA, Prime, Cybertron

Worst: BM (Only the Maximals look, Vehicons look mighty rad), I guess the FOC designs.

my fav is toei 's g1 japanese tfs series and
sunrise 's exkaiser , fighbird , da-garn , dawgon, gosaurer, rajin -oh

 

Favorite: I actually liked Cybertron's design aesthetics. They were traditional and uniformed, yet unique enough to show a differ design for each planet. Upgrades weren't just dedicated to repaints, but were retools and outright new molds. They each had their own look and feel, yet were still unified. I really liked that.

Least Favorite: I know it's popular, but I'm really not a fan of the WfC/FoC look. I've just never been that fond of spacecars, spacejets and especially space hovertanks.

 

Favs: Animated, movie, BW's more rounded but still robotic in an almost retro way.

Hates: Prime's derivitive like-movie-but-lacking-originality-and-unique-proportions, WFC/FOC and their binge-eating designs, G1 that's just everyone with the same build and blockiness. Especially the cartoon where there's only about three unique face designs among the entire cast.

 

Favorite: Armada, Animated, WFC/FOC
Hate: Bayformers, I like my Transformers to look like Transformers, not a bunch of ugly Bionicle and Neon Genesis Evangelion rejects.

 

Favorites: G1, TF Prime, Classics/Henkei, Alternity, some movieverse

Least favorite: None, really, I don't know much about Armada, Energon, Beast Wars, but they look interesting enough
