While I've sold a vast majority of my 2022 buys, I can say for certain, a few got to stay because I enjoyed them. Those are: Kingdom: Terrorsaur Legacy: Laser Prime Tarantulas Jhiaxus Inferno Studio Series: Sideways
Star Saber by far.though I would have been fine if they didn’t include the Micro Master figures. Most of the Legacy figures. In the Worst of 2022 thread folks where giving Motormaster a bit of grief but I really like him. I am digging Menasor as well. I am not to bothered by the limb bots. Though I would have liked them if they were on the front legs not the back. Cosmos after fidning a bunch of him at retail is another one I love too.
My favourite purchases of the year are probably: Legacy Inferno Legacy Goldbug SS TLK Hot Rod Buzzworthy Core Bumblebee Legacy Cosmos Best bargain of the year is hands down: Legacy Black Zarak for £57.99 - He was being clearanced for £74.99 & a friend gave me staff discount to bring it down even further. Insane price for such a fantastic Titan! Honourable bargain mentions: Beast Wars Reissue Optimus Primal (£19.99) SS86 Starscream (£24.99) SS NEST Bumblebee (£12.99) MPM12 Optimus Prime (£59.99)
I would say Star Saber, but he was actually purchased in 2021. I will have to go with Lego Icons Optimus Prime. My two favorite toylines together in one toy. Never thought that would actually happen.
Relatively slow year for my Transformers collection, but already looking forward to 2023... YM-01 Skywarp (yeah, I know, he's a KO.. but was far superior to the TRU MP-3 model he replaced and had improvements over MP-11SW) Badcube Steamroll Badcube Slick SS86 Sludge *honorable mentions for the SS86 Slag upgrades I picked up too
Kingdom Rodimus. He's goddamn perfect as far as I'm concerned. Mine has only slight trailer trouble. And I painted over the canopy, so it looks great. I highly doubt I will ever need another version of Rodimus Prime. He is just *chef's kiss.* Legacy Skids gets a close runner-up. I had to paint him too, but man... I have huge nostalgia for the G1 Skids toy. This guy delivers on what I've wanted from a Skids update for forever. He's not overly-wrought... He's just a simple car-former. And it fits with who Skids is as a character. Subtle, effective. A treasure for those looking for this specific type.
Best purchase was my most recent purchase. I recently got a childhood favorite, White Optimus! Jk. I know he’s Ultra Magnus, but I didn’t know that as a kid in the 90’s. … story time: My grandma bought me my first Transformer from a thrift store around the corner from where we lived, a White Optimus (I thought). We’ve had others TFs in the 80s, but they belonged to my brother (he let me play with Ironhide), and they were lost when we moved. So this was the only one I had at the time. Anyway, cut to the present: I’ve been getting pretty heavy into Transformers the past couple years. … and My grandmother passed a few months ago (it hit me pretty hard). I get new Transformers all the time, but I wanted to get something meaningful. There might be “better” versions out there, but as this toy is, it’s the best version to me. No hands, no armor. Just a toy from a grandma to her grandson.
The long-delayed purchase I'm happy I finally made is Henkei Dark Skyfire. He came out twelve years ago, but it wasn't until now that the three stars of wanting him, finding him and affording him all aligned. Aesthetically he fits in much better with my other 2008 Shattered Glass figures than the new SG Jetfire would. My favorite purchase of the year has got to be Shattered Glass Slicer. Packing in a Fasttrack redeco as an homage to the original Action Master's accessory was a stroke of genius, and I don't think I had more fun messing around with any other figure. I mean, go-cart races with Transformers? Come on! Purchase I got the best deal on would be MP-52SW Skywarp, which I got from Hasbro Pulse's epic 40% off sale in June. Starscream and Thundercracker were must-haves, so they were preorder purchases, but Skywarp was more of a wait-for-a-deal kind of buy, and that was a whopper of a deal.
Didn't buy any new official figure last year, only 2022 3P releases. But I finally got MP-18+ and MP-19+. Love 'em!
I find it funny that the Worst in 2022 thread is twice as big as the Best in 2022 thread. Typical TFW2005. More complainers than positivity. My 20 best of 2022 list in no particular order. Most were trades and weren't purchases. But you get the idea. They were acquired in 2022: *Behold Galvatron *Buzzworthy Origin Bumblebee *Buzzworthy Goldbug *Buzzworthy SS86 Kup *Generations Selects Galvatron *Kingdom Sideswipe *Kingdom Airazor (and all of its mold uses. Kingdom Skywarp, Buzzworthy Terrorsaur, and Golden Disk Terrorsaur. The mold is phenomenal) *Legacy Velocitron Cosmos *Legacy Galvatron *Legacy Predacon Inferno *Legacy Transmetal 2 Megatron *Premium Finish Siege Optimus Prime *Premium Finish Bumblebee Movie Optimus Prime *SS86 Arcee *SS86 Junkheap *SS86 Sweep *SS86 Wheelie
Selects Galvatron is King It’s really not fair… anything else pales in comparison. I bought ss86 starscream for his throne…
