http://www.marveltoys.net posted pics of the new Marvel Legends box sets. I'm all over the YA set....Monsters needs to grow on me. Pics of the Monsters set can be seen here. Just scroll down.
Damn, that YA set is NICELY sculpted!!! Iron Lad looks nice, but I don't really want the other YAs just so I can have him. :-/ As for the monsters...WTF...? Dracula, Man-Wolf, a weird-looking Frankenstein guy, and an anorexic? I smell a shelfwarmer. Now, if they had used the Marvel Zombies designs, I'd be all over it. Spider-Man with detachable leg, Cap with sawed off brain, Daredevil with a hole punched through him, and a battle ravaged Magneto? Oh hell yes (in my dreams, anyway).
Yeah, one of the first things I thought was, "Wow, what a sausage party." But then I remembered that, technically, this IS the original cast of Young Avengers (complete with original costumes and names - look at Patriot and "Asgardian"), which is well before Stature and Hawkingbird joined up. Kind of wish that they'd include Kang, though, just so that it looks like the YA have someone to fight.
thats a neat set. Cashing in on DC teen titans? That would be awesome to have a show with these guys. Only one problem though. I was always under the assumption that hulks hide was impenetrable yet he has multiple piercings! WHAT UP WIT DAT?!?
This is going to sound condescending, but it's pretty clear you don't read the comics... This isn't so much as cashing in on DC's "Teen Titans" as it is creating a new generation of Avengers (apprenticed by the originals). As for "Hulkling"...he's not actually "Hulk"-anything. He's some Skrull-like shape-shifter that can take on any form...but, since the team is "Young Avengers," and you've already got iterations of Thor, Cap, and Iron Man, Teddy (the character's human name) decided to take on an updated form of Hulk. EDIT: Also, "WHAT UP WIT DAT?!?"...? If the English language itself could speak, it would cry.
Whoa man that's a pretty sweet set. Could use a villian but guess those will be down the line. Im a n00b to the YA line as well so that comic will be a fun read.
I can't wait to get that set. It would be nice to see the ladies, but it's still cool that they're doing it at all. At least it's the group from the first issue.
Is it wrong that I think the Young Avengers set is cool enough to purchase at the right price, even though I've never read the comic? The Monsters set, on the other hand, doesn't really interest me much.
Because I am an intolerant, evil, heartless, homophobe. It's definately that and not the fact that I don't like the comics, think the characters are cliche, or that I think that they are just adding something extra with those characters that is totally unneccessary.
If you've read all 8 or 9 issues of YA so far, then okay. Fair enough. But, if you haven't read at LEAST the first six issues yet, please do so. I can almost guarantee that you'll have some change of heart.
I read the first few and I wasn't too impressed. But perhaps you're right and I judged the series too quickly. I would have gone back and gotten some of the that I didn't get, but I wasn't too impressed with what I've read from reviews.
it's taken a couple of days, but the Monster set is really growing on me. I might actually pick it up now.
I didn't even look at the moster set before. That is friggin incredible! That is a total must buy for me. Too bad they're a little too short, or else my Sigma 6 figures would be fighting monsters.
