    I am not trolling.

When talking about emotion. "To say that "seeing character X die in DOTM did not make me cry, however seeing the same character die in the G1 movie made me cry therefore DOTM sucks." does not make sense.

The reason that the death in the G1 movie made you cry was because you were a kid.

The reason you didn't cry when someone died in the Live Action Movies was because you are an adult.

Kids are easy to please. We exaggerate our childhood into being better then it actually was.

I only felt emotion when I thought bumblebee was going to die.
And I was in awe when optimus lost an arm

Its hard to make me cry, i feel the emotion of sadness and all, but nothing movie or tv has ever made me cry.

that said, the death of optimus prime and the other g1 characters in the 86 movie have NO effect on me. The death of prime is just "meh" thats is it

Not a good reason to start a thread.

    I'm 15 and I didn't cry for either movie.

You're fifteen and so unless you watched the 86 movie when you were 4 or 5,
then this is completely irrelevant to the point brought up in the first post.

I did feel a bit emotional when Bumblebee nearly died. It was like my body was on autopilot and I was engrossed in the scene so much that I seemed to forget that Bumblebee would never die being a one man franchise; and also had been shown in trailers in scenes that hadn't happened yet in the movie. I was caught by surprise - I didn't expect to emotionally react to Transformers, no matter how much I'm a fan of not just the films, but the franchise in general.

Well, i am 26 years old and i still cry a bit with the Tfs movies. ^^
With the original i tear a bit when Optimus transforms and "The touch" start playing and i do cry when Optimus dies. T.T The first time i watched the Optimus' death scene i did cry a lot. :(  I was a kid afterall.
With the first movie i cried with the Autobots' Arrival scene, the scene is so glorious! Recently i re-watched the movie on dvd and i cried again. ^^
Hm..I didnt cry with ROTF or DOTM. :S I did feel bad with the Autobot Exile scene and when Starscream shots down the Xantium. was like someone crushed my heart. T.T

So many assumptions at work in the original post.

You know what they say about 'assume'. It makes an ass out of you, period.

During the four times I saw the movie, I always felt sad when Bumblebee was saying goodbye to Sam when the Autobots were leaving Earth. I knew every time that Bumblebee wasn't actually gonna leave, but he and Sam are the heart of these movies so seeing them having to say goodbye to each other just made me feel bad.

    Here is the difference...
'86 movie = a movie about Robots developed over the course of 65 episodes in order to connect with children so that they felt enough for the characters to want to buy a toy and grow the brand. Suddenly all of the characters were killed and there was a theater of kids screaming and bawling (especially about Optimus Prime)

Movieverse. 3 movies totaling around 12 TV episodes worth of screen time about a kid, his drug addicted dog and his psychopathic parents who happens to run into some robots that get little screen time. Sometimes these robots die...sometimes they are good guys with names, but there is little time put into developing them as characters so not a sound is heard from the kids when Optimus is killed in RotF nor when Iron Hide bites it in DotM. I don't know if the lack of building was more from lack of total time (movies = 6ish hours in total where as G1 seasons 1+2 = somewhere around 42) or a lack of vision, or if they just didn't care. But the movie characters just don't mean as much as the G1 characters did. Personally i think it has a lot more to do with being a movie as opposed to an ongoing series where you can spend time on one character at a time without ruining the story arch as a whole.

I thought DotM was an awesome movie, which means a lot coming from me (I though RotF was terrible and 07 movie was "meh"), but the characters just weren't fleshed out enough. They should have killed Sam. At least I would have felt something (relived not to have to see him in another movie) .

I'm twelve and what is this?

I felt a deep pit in me during the 86 movie.

Of course, since I'm a teenager now, I knew he came back in season 3 which lessens the blow.

I didn't cry during DOTM or ROTF. The deaths were a bit shocking, and very cruel (Q was probably the worst, although Ironhides was terrible, too).

I really don't cry that much, over anything really. I've had enough of a past that nothing really gets to me any more.
An exception would be scrubs, I don't know why, but there are a few episodes that really get me every time.

    I didn't cry because I'm dead inside.

Actually I resent it when movies set to be emotionally manipulative like that. I remember Bay laid it on pretty thick for Armageddon near the end with those scenes of Bruce Willis and his daughter. It's shmaltzy hollywood tear-jerking crap. Having said that, he was more successful in that one respect than in his transformers movies.

What's funny about the 86 movie that was already stated is that so many characters die it's just ridiculous. Not only that, but they die from a couple laser blasts. It's really hard to feel sympathetic for anyone in the g1 movie besides Optimus.
