Good advice there. I recently started doing that for my comic and the shots have been much better.

Oh well, I was ready to bump it myself anyway. I'm taking a shot at a more serious story now, hopefully it'll go over well.

Episode 6: Seed













I hope Arnval's stand doesn't detract from things too much. I decided a while back I'd leave the super-cool special effects to the masters like Chaos Incarnate, Polenicus, Coolhand, et al. I'm just telling a story with toys. I mean, even if I tried to edit out the stand, they're still standing on a TiVo.  

 

i don't mind the stand at all! great opening for a more serious storyline!  

 

That's a great start! Keep it up, and don't concern yourself with effects. Story comes first, and everything else is icing.

 

Yep, story > effects. Now we just need to get Michael Bay to understand that.

 

I didn't even notice the Tivo till you mentioned it!! great story or good laughs, who cares about the rest. And your story is off and running. Rickety Prime, cool.

Exactly. End of the day, effects are nice eye candy but it's the STORY that matters. Good jokes and/or good story are what keep me reading a strip and this one's looking good so far.  

 

Umm... would it be bad if I admitted that I have no idea what that means?   I just thought he looked like he turned into some kind of front-loader thing. H'ray for unintentional humor!  

Thanks everyone for the positive reinforcements! I'll try to keep 'em coming at a somewhat-regular pace so that the cliffhangers don't 'hang' for too long.

You ain't seen nothin' yet.   The funny isn't gone for good or anything, though, I just came up with a story I wanted to try to tell too.

Anyway, sorry this took so long. There were some personal issues. I won't say what the bad news was, but the good news was "at least I didn't die." (Heck, the way things are going, maybe that's the bad news.) But y'all don't need to worry about that, I don't suppose...

So... all you people that were complaining a while back that the Shinkis never lose in these comics? I hope you're happy now.

I'd say being blasted into a hundred pieces is far more than just losing.
