There's no way to contact IDW about it is there? I looked on their website but didn't see a contact for it.

I'm still optimistic. Previous volumes were also delayed multiple times.

Also, if James Roberts is saying it's happening you gotta assume that all the new content is written and prepared, and I can't see that going to waste. Least I hope not...

[email protected] is one, but it doesn't do anything.

They suck when it comes to reprints in TPBs.

The issue here is that it's not just this 80s reprint book that's delayed. All the GI Joe HCs are delayed/unavailable now and the Marvel US Compendium.

Ah, ok, well that's news to me (only buy UK Classics and MTMTE TPBs). What about the monthly comics, they're still going on, yeah?

Damn, I just googled about to see where this was at, and find this news. Fingers crossed it still gets released, although the other books being delayed as mentioned earlier in the thread gives me cause for concern. Nobody (to my knowledge) ever seems to be able to publish the entirety of the G1 material in consistent format.

    Maybe it's a curse!

To be honest, I strongly suspect that this is a Labor-Of-Love type project and it doesn't sell well.

Fuck. It would've been nice if they wouldn't cancel a series subtitled "The Complete Collection" because sales aren't setting the world ablaze.

I'm not the biggest Joe fan, but if ever there was a format I was gonna buy the crap out of, it's the full-(over-?)sized, HC, all-inclusive and in-correct-sequence collections.

'Marvel US Compendium'? Did they fix THEIR mistakes? Full size? Hard-cover?

The Marvel US Compendium was scheduled to just be paperback, not hardcover. It was the Classics Vol 1-4 (covering issues #1-50) in one volume. I guarantee you it would have been a straight reprint (no further improvements/corrections of previous "Improvements")

Still nothing on this book, and a different publisher in the UK is reprinting ALL of Marvel Us and Marvel uk, Dreamwave and *some* of IDW from scratch.

That uk imprint has just launched here in OZ, after several months over there.

And now im going.........do I start a NEW collection (which will run for 80 volumes) and HOPE they actually finish it, or keep waiting for IDW to put out the last damn 3 TFUK classics trades (#6-8)

    *sigh*

Transformers: The Definitive G1 Collection - Transformers Wiki

Here's a link for anyone that does not know about these new editions which promise a complete run, and will colorise all/any of the previous black and white UK stories.

I have to wonder if the existence of this new series is what affected the IDW classics UK run? I've seen nothing new all year about that run.
As this new series uses the IDW UK reprint material from both TFUS and TFUK Classics series (apparently) but by another publisher, maybe THIS is why they have been silent on it?

I don't think the Definitive Collection has delayed the IDW Classics UK. Remember, the all-important American market doesn't have the Definitive Collection (yet).

I hate to say it, but I think sales/profit are the reasons that series has been delayed. If it had been a runaway success, we would've had the outstanding volumes soon after vol 5 (and that was, what, three years ago now?)

I asked James Roberts about this on Twitter a few weeks back.

He's still working on it, other commitments have pushed it back though.

Pretty sure I'm just gonna be happy reading my scans of the Marvel UK material, considering IDW really doesn't want to sell it to me.

Me too. Wonder if Amazon do this automatically after a certain period of time, or if they know something we don't?

So, no, there still hasn't been a update on this. All I really have to say at this point is: fuck IDW. At this point, they've completely wrecked their current universe with all the crossover bullshit, and they've made it clear that reprints of classic material is not something they really care about. I hope they lose the license at this point.

As for me, I'm gonna start trying to collect the UK single issues, and possibly one day have them custom hardbound.

It's pretty much in limbo. Pretty sure the GI Joe Classics Vol 9 will be pushed to this magical limbo date as well.

Yes, I have Transformers UK Vol 6 pre-ordered through DCBS, and they haven't canceled my order yet. So maybe that is a good sign? Hopefully anyway. And yes, still waiting on that G.I.Joe Hardcover to come out. I loved the first 8 volumes.
