I'll probably buy this and repurpose it as Beast Machines Primal Prime. The colors work well enough, and it'll hopefully be cheaper than buying a normal Air Attack Optimus Primal on the secondary market.

Unexpected. I was hoping for a modern prime done up in Primal colors. This mold is giant so I'm sure it will be $100+

Huh, that more bestial looking Autobot insignia is pretty interesting.

As for the toy itself it's nice to see a Beast Machines version of Primal Prime but yeah it's not for me, never really cared for the "year of the-" series.

I never did like the looks of the original release to buy it. However in those colors it doesn't look that bad. It has a BM Primal Prime vibe for sure. I might buy it depending what the official price is.

    Pass.

I had kind of hoped that with Beast Wars' 20th Anniversary coming up, they would at least use the original gorilla Optimus Primal mold instead.

Hmmm... Got out of bw at its end and never followed into BM but still an interesting mold choice given its size and age. Curious if it will cut corners by not including the electronics. I was dismissive at first but I think price will be a deciding factor for me.

As for the mp mold to be used, I'm thinking a Datsun or possible seeker repaint. Although with Starscream on the shelf I kinda doubt they would want another seeker. So I'm leaning heavily towards a Datsun repaint, which depending on deco could be interesting. Another mp-10 repaint would please some people, but seems like they have kept it one Decepticon, one Autobot. So either we get a Decepticon version of mp-10, another seeker, a Decepticon version of a Datsun, or maybe even Grimlock serving as a BW Megatron? Who knows at this point since they dusted off this ol' mold. I'm only counting soundwave out since they did him last year. I'm calling a tiger striped mp Grimlock when year of the tiger rolls around next.

Hey you know what will sell well, an ape that is colored like Optimus Prime, and it even turns into a robot!

Let's be honest, this is like when the Cybertron released the Optimud Primal, though at least that was color accurate.

    Eh, will still buy.

The worst part of this mold was that the plastic was terrible. I have this guy and although I hardly ever transform him the screws in the legs keep stripping. When I unscrewed the legs I found that most of them were stripped and I had to super glue the legs. I hope they use better materials.

So odd looking. Kinda looks like a proto or a KO. I recall the plastic being bad on the original mold, cracking all over the clear plastic sections. Unless they used different translucent plastic, this won't end well for those who transform it.

Would be nice if they added elbow articulation for both arms

But if Hasblow used a new idea, it wouldn't be G1 enough. That's how it works, right? If it's a new thing, it's not G1 enough. If it's G1 enough, it's pandering and lazy and out of ideas. The only way to win this crazy game is to just do whatever they were gonna do in the first place rather than listen to what we think we want.

It is indeed very, very odd, but not in a bad way. It's so weird looking that I think it looks awesome in it's own way.

I hope not over 100 also, perhaps it will be a shelf warmer like the Year of the Goat Optimus. Its a shelf warmer at my Toys R Us, so I'm speaking for myself :)  I don't wanna pay 100 bucks, but they all are super expensive.

It will. Thirteen year old mold that looks kind of blah for $150 but people will jump all over it, watch.

Are we actually having a debate about what "primal" means? I understood the meaning when I was 3 years old. The show was Beast Wars - set before man's reign on the planet and the Leader was Optimus Primal. I thought it was obvious.
