Test shot of Jocund (Pronouncued JOCK-UND).
Blue pieces are die-cast.
The redesigned finished product was much closer to the original non-transforming design than it appears in that side-by-side. All the difference of proportion is purely down to the different angles. If you take pics of (almost) the same angle, and the final version is wearing the full car shells, you see how close they are...
Left is the final redesigned product and right is the original concept when the skeleton didn't transform. As I said earlier they managed to take the bot mode model and engineer into it the trailer transformation with such minimal impact to the bot model it is quite impressive, imho. They lost the subtle flare of the lower legs as they now have to open into a square trailer section, and generally the sculpt, particularly the torso, it's a little less clean as so much of it now is made of stacked up trailer panels. Pretty awesome engineering accomplishment, imho!
lmao i know its a prototype but it already having paint scratches on the feet and thighs is hilarious
they really need to find a way so that that shit doesnt happen on literally every single one of these combiner limb figures
I'm not disagreeing about the skill of the engineer. I do think the prototype is thicker in the chest, legs, and even arms and I prefer that, tho I don't know how much a cad image transfers to reality and how much of the material plays a part in it. All things considered, as you said, the images are practically identical. Actually, the paint threw me off a little and the arms are the same size.
Loving the pics and the willingness to share updates!
facts its good to have someone giving us info on here pretty freely
That's a lot of diecast
His name is Jocund.
He's the life of the party
What are you going to need to form Defensor, a plastic firehouse?
The only thing which surprised me about that whole sequence was when it ended and it wasn’t confirmed to be… Yet, anyway.
I just kept waiting for the reveal, wondering which of them was the orchestrator, but it didn’t happen. But I’ve rewatched it several times and the moment Sylvie wakes up on the train and Loki is singing seemed really off to me.
Because I love you all!
Well, that's a trade secret but suffice to say that numerous virgins and blood letting was involved...
Seeing their Groove made me realize that MMC hid the front tire
Had Fuzz for a month and didn’t transform him. Did today. He is an over-engineered, most limbs/joints in the arms too thin piece of shit. At least when FT over-engineers something I don’t feel like it’s going to snap in half(save Rouge).
Im going to buy the rest of the set but damn I hope Fuzz is a low point of the set.
And that’s why XTB continues to make badly designed, overpriced and poor QC figures. Because they don’t need anything to be good to sell it.
XTB is getting so close to being top tier 3pMp wise, which is what makes bad qc or breakable parts on their figures that much more irritating
The X-Transbots Groove exposed tires in the legs look horrible, and the legs are shaped bad. I like the head and chest though.
The only tire that we should see in robot mode is the backpack front wheel.
Vehicle mode looks good though.
They're trying to make it look like this...
So strictly speaking the split wheel on the legs is in fact the only wheel we should see in bot mode. That's why the front wheel optionally hides on the back. They've done a very decent job as usual, imho. Aesthetically at least.
It does look a little off-putting, I agree. But it is cartoon accurate.
