Sure. JUST BE AWARE that there were some MINOR changes as colors on a cartoon don't translate well to an actual figure!

 

After all the shock and complains, people turn silent when the truth revealled, it's blue and it's accurate.

Very happy with Xtb groove, tbh like everyone else, I thought the arm should be grey but it proves to be wrong, guess our old memory isn't that reliable sometimes.

The colour on screenshots really depends on the colour setting of the monitor, as well as white balance settings etc. Something else to consider is that with software like photoshop, when you take a sample of a colour for a template it selects an individual pixel and not a blend of the overall colour.

Grooves arms should be grey.

XTB had a similar thing with the Quintesson, where they put it to their customers on FB to vote. That came out blue as well.

Interestingly to me, the figure that XTB have shown photos of has blue arms but a different colour for the pipes on the shins and around the thighs. Yet in the reference images from the cartoon it seems these parts are the same colour. So there was a decision to differentiate these parts somewhere along the line from their design perspective. By that logic (not saying it’s a definitive logic) surely the exhausts should be blue as well?

I'm not sure it's that simple. Those screenshot from Grifter still don't look blue on my phone and they look overly blue on the figure shots. Maybe it is the flash that's throwing it off. Either way I'll paint them light grey myself if I need to. No biggie. Corrected so many figures before, 1 more ain't gonna hurt.

 

Mmm.. no, they're different. The image shows two different ways to transform the backpack. More obvious in the image showing the rear.

 

The photographer should be taking flash into consideration and adjusting white balance accordingly. Also the Kelvin can be adjusted in the colour temp settings. As a photographer myself I can’t see how the flash is only affecting the arms.

Really, Groove was on screen four whole times in the entire G1 cartoon? I'm rewatching the whole series as I move on to JapaneseG1 and the Protectobots did exactly nothing. No set up story like the Aerialbots and I don't even remember them naming off all the members of the team. They're just suddenly there on Earth and quickly vanish.

Depending on the setup of the TV monitor and which release of the DVD they're using (or the VHS), all the colors come off slightly different. If your parents had the color and contrast settings a bit different then you're not remembering correctly. Hell, I saw all these episodes on broadcast and only vaguely could remember this team. Kind of silver gray or kind of more blue gray? Pick a version that looks good on the new toy. If the figure is really popular then there is always a chance to re-issue the figure with a slightly different color to please the initial 20% who object to the first release. Add in the demands to match the toy rather than the cartoon or some later re-issue of the toy from 200x or someone's toy that spent 20 years fading in sunlight that you cherish and there are critiques on just about every color out there.

Much like the ongoing arguments about the "proper color for Starscream" going on in other threads, there are so many different versions most any color can be matched up with an animation frame on some monitor somewhere.

 

Looks fine to me, and adds a little bit of interest to a pretty dull colour scheme. The only thing I'm worried about is how the bugger transforms.

 

Not sure why xtb changed their colour again. The initial renders had chrome (silver) colour arms. You can tell by the reflection in the render. Blue truly seems alien to grooves character.

The source photos also show that the gun and exhaust pipes should be the same blue. Or grey. Or silver? Should this be consistently applied for complete accuracy?
