I don't own any of the systems because the games are waaay to expencive for my standars to afford but if I had to choose one i'd go with PS3 but that's because all of my favorite franchises (Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper, Metal Gear Solid...) are on the PS3. Plus having a blue-ray player is a bonus.
Oh look, one of these threads... But no I myself go with xbox because it's way cheaper and it has Halo. Halo should be enough to convince anyone to get an xbox. I do however want to get Uncharted and Starhawk, shame they aren't multi-platform.
I wouldn't go with either. They both have annoying fans that never stop bickering. Go get yourself a Jaguar. Do the math. Chuck
I beg to differ, as I said I owned both consoles at one time and I do have very good connection and more often than not it was the PS3 that had lag issues and not my 360!
Hmm. Well that's too bad. Really though, from my living room, I've never had lag on either system. Could be the area you're in.
Actually, from what I can gather, the PS3 just seems to have issues with some routers. Dont know how, why, or even if it even can be fixed. I've never seen any legitimate report or feature on this issue either. Everyone either assumes that PSN sucks or that PSN is awesome if it works fine. But it really seems like its a router compatibility issue. Anyway, Xbox and Playstation owner here. Out of the current systems, I say that the Playstation is the one to get. I generally like Sony's exclusives a whole lot more. And free online is a plus. The blu ray player is a awesome bonus too. However, Nintendo's next generation console is coming later this year, and apparently Microsoft will not be far behind in launching theirs. Given that the current gen consoles are still relatively expensive, I would honestly at least wait to see exactly what Nintendo and Microsoft are doing. We know Nintendo will showcase their new console at E3; and from the rumor mill, its looking more and more likely that Microsoft will as well.
pretty much this. the lag I've experienced on both systems (I'm an avid fighting game fan too) was equal. I've actually cancelled my gold sub recently because I just don't feel like paying anymore for the same quality I can get for free. $60 a year isn't bad if that's where all your buds are and you do a lot of online gaming. Still, for a $200 4 gig 360 + a year worth of live you're already over what a $250 160gb PS3 runs, without yearly subs. So I'm not sure where the "xbox is cheaper" comparison is being drawn either. like I said I'm trying to come from a neutral standpoint being a PC gamer and owning the 2 consoles also. when you crunch the numbers, one system just offers more for the money. yes it's a biased opinion and spending less to get more is my bias.
Unbiased reasons for recommending a PS3 would be: I like the feel of the controller more, to play online is free, and it's setup/menu design I find simple and intuitive. *I say unbiased because I'm not a Microsoft fan at all and I gave my "from experience" reasons.*
I have both; if you like multiplayer go with 360, if you like mainly single player only and would benefit from BD, go with PS3
Just a simple Question for the man asking us to make up his mind for him. When you go to Purchase one of these consoles, are things like Motion Capture games going to make a difference?
I'm not asking anyone to make up my mind for me, simply asking for opinions so I can see what different people have for pros and cons on each console. What are motion capture games?
If you have a PC then you really don't need a 360. You're only 'missing out' on a fairly small collection of exclusives (unless you count all the kinect rubbish) Go with the PS3.
I have both and love them both. Either choice is a good one. If I had to choose, Id go with the PS3. It does more.
I should rephrase that, as in do you plan on playing any games were you use your body as the controller. Kinect - Xbox.com PlayStation®Move Motion Controller - PlayStation®3 Move Info, Games & Updates If this is something that matters, and something you will be doing alone, or with friends, everyone I know with either, or both, swear by the 360s Kinect at just plain being a better product.
5 years ago before my health declined and before I was on disability, this would have been an option. As it stands, I own a Wii and I love the bowling games, and its been well over a year since I last played cause its too damn hard to finish just one game. So, unfortunately, no this won't be a factor at all. Edit - and i have read up on them in my research and it seems everyone swears by the xbox for the motion stuff.
dude, read his post. man says hes got health issues/on disability and it's tedious for him to do now.
if you plan on playing games online, i'd say xbox. ps3 is free and whatnot, but the overall experience on xbox live is better, better connections and more social options. if you're not bothered about playing online, ps3. just my 10 cents
