So, I've missed many games that are console only. I'm a PC gamer and have stuck to PC games for a long time. But with some games I've seen for btoh Xbox and PS, including the Final Fantays series, of which I love to death, it has tempted me. However, the final temptation may be at hand. Later this year, as we all know, Fall of Cybertron will be coming out, and from everything I read it will NOT be on PC. Because of this little heartbreaking development, I may have to finally give in a buy one of these two systems. Since I have no experience with either system, I come to you, the fandom, who probably knows more about these than I. So which is it? Playstation or Xbox? Tell me why I should choose one over the other. Please try to keep it clean, no...You should get Xbox cause playstation sucks or vice versa. I'm sure both systems are great in their own right and I'm looking for constructive comments on both systems to help me decide which I should go with should I finally decide to grab one of them. Thanks for the help everyone.
I don't see it ending well to be honest, not without an argument of some sort. So, I will note this, I am a Playstation supporter, but I am not gonna go out and say that you should get a PS3. Playstation has free online play, Xbox does not. Xbox has some more exclusive games(like Halo and Gears of War), but they seem to try and keep all sorts of games running on both consoles. It really comes down to what you prefer gamewise. I have played both systems, but was always more of a Playstation fan. I didn't like some of the hamburger controlers on Xbox. Both systems have decent HD potentials.
I'm more fond of the PS3 myself. Naughty Dog may be a big reason for that. Free online and Blu-ray support were added bonuses. Seeing as you're a PC gamer, I'd say that you're better off with that and a PS3, unless you're a Games for Windows Live advocate, which no one should be.
Yeah I know, I'm just hoping people can be civil about their opinions on their systems. I know there are some hardcore xbox fans and playstation fans who absolutely despise the other console. I'm just hoping people can put that aside and at the least, give me their positive of their console and not say anything about the other if need be. I don't like halo at all, never played gears of war but what I've seen, it never interested me. I know there are some exclusives to each system. I'm just thinking, if I pick up one or the other, that the main reason I get is for Fall of Cybertron. But whichever I do pick up, I probably will go and pick up some older games as well, as well as looking to the future of the games coming out for the console.
I own PC, PS3 and 360 so no fanboy opinions here. They all offer they're own unique niche but if you want something to just play a good majority of the multiplatform games out there and get the best bang for your buck, PS3 is the way to go. 360 is a great console but it cannot trump free online play, a good hard drive, and a bluray player at the same price point. It's just not equal when you lay down what you get for the same price. Add in no psn subscription needed for apps like netflix and it is the best deal for what you are paying. If the majority of games you want to play are multiplatform, I would go the ps3 route all day.
I think so on and so fourth. Bad idea for a thread. Play good games. They all have some. If anyone comes on and says they like one over the other, there's a good chance they are already biased and your opinion is going to be swayed based on a biased opinion. Do you really want that? Go to some game sites, do some real research, check out the games and the reveiws. But ultimately, getting both systems plus a few games for each will still cost you less then a decent gaming PC.
I don't have a powerful enough Laptop for PC gaming so the Xbox (Excluding various Nintendo consoles.) is my go to console, so while I'm on the xbox side of this debate I cannot say anything good nor bad about the PS3. EDIT: Just realised the Xbox 360 may be ending it's cycle soon, Halo 4 is apparently the last Halo game on 360 while the rest will be on the next Xbox so I'd say the PS3, it might have a little more juice in it's battery.
PS3 has more exclusive games plus free online and bluray support but the 360 has xbl which is supposedly better than PSN adn most multi platforms run better on the 360. Also if you're a fighting game fan the PS3 version of some games have more characters in some of it's games plus Gundam Extreme VS. Oh yeah, this is another thing you have to factor.
I've never owned an Xbox so I can't speak for it but I've got absolutely no ill feelings towards it. The reason I've always gone with PlayStation is I like its exclusive games better. You might want to consider the controllers. They're a bit different from each other in button layout and shape, so one may be more comfortable than the other.
this is a VERY case by case scenario. being a multi-console owner, I'm sure others with the same situation will tell you that you have to do some nitty gritty research when choosing to buy the game for just one platform. I read several reviews before making that choice and it's a coin flip a majority of the time that determines which system the developer put more effort into...and its sometimes a better idea to wait til after the game has been out a short time to get the accurate feedback. so I'm not sure you could put that as an advantage to either system. that's on the developer to optimize appropriately for each, as they are both capable consoles.
Always been a Sony guy. Had the original X-Box at one time and it had multiple problems, and we all know the problems 360s have. Longer lifespans + free online + tons of exclusives = better system.
I'm a 360 guy, only because it was less expensive at the time. Of course, a week later it all of the consoles went down $100... I dislike paying for the multiplayer, and I'm going to see if I can get a PS3 from a friend or trade it in. I have a lot of friends on there, but that's okay. The ability to play Blu-Ray's is a bonus that'd be useful in this house; seeing as we just got our first HDTV... I'd lean toward the PS3. Plus, sony makes nice cameras =D
This post won't help you at all. I own both. I bought both because I wanted the exclusives from both. Both have delivered. For multiplatform games, I stick with what Kotaku/Joystiq says. If they say it's better on X system, then I buy it on that system. The only deviation from that is if friends are wanting online play on specific system. Both are fantastic gaming systems. Each have their pros/cons, but most of those are personal preference. The one major flaw with the Xbox is that it's got a monthly/yearly fee associated with playing online. The upside to that is that Microsoft has much better security and standards for their online play. And really, buy Live during the holidays and it's $30 for a year. Not much at all if you're wanting to play online. I currently use my PS3 more because it's my main Blu-Ray player, and the majority of my friends are playing MW3 on it. Other than that, it's a complete toss up.
Owned them both at one time, just sold my PS3 recently. It's X-box all the way for me. But then again it depends on you and what you want. I personally don't care about a blu-ray player so that luxury means fuck all to me, X-box live isn't free but the quality of online play which is a huge aspect to me is significantly better than the PS3's. Plenty a time I've been over to my friends house to play SF4 only to meet him playing matches laddened with lag and this isn't sometimes but it's almost all the time. With that kind of quality of online gaming I can understand why it's free, lol! As for graphics, I'd give it to the PS3 but in saying this the difference is only marginal, were not talking about differences like the nintendo to the snes so for me it's not worth it to fork out that extra hundred dollars or pounds for the PS3 in my opinion. It all depends on you and what you're looking for, if you're into all that multi media stuff, blu-ray and what not and not really focussed of quality online gameplay then it's the PS3 but if you're into serious online gaming like myself then the X-box is the only way to go!
