PSP Go was 8-10 years too early, the market for digital on consoles is completely different now and Spencer wouldn't even be considering this if they didn't have favourable sales and sub numbers to back it up.

This is true. People living in North America, Europe, and Australia may be more willing to go digital, but I don't think people living in Japan and other parts of Asia are ready to give up physical media just yet.

Disc to digital sounds great, except in the case of Transformers. They're not available except by disc and even if you have that, you can't get the DLC. If I didn't have the disc, I wouldn't be able to play it right now. And you cannot imagine what Devastation looks like on a 4k display with stellar upscale... It's breathtaking. And there are other games that have been pulled from rotation, I'm sure.

I know they want to get people into gaming for less, but can the disc drive really be that much more expensive??

Me, personally, I'm alright with a digital-only library because the discs do drive me nuts but it's better to have a physical backup in case anything goes wrong, like with Activision/Transformers.

Nowadays, laptops have pretty much ditched the optical drive. So I think, if they wanted to, they could sell an optical drive attachment separately for those that want to use their gaming/movie discs.

Xbox is a niche platform in Japan anyway and the other major Asian markets are dominated by Mobile and PC, so it's not really going to make much of a difference to that part of the world in this case.

Hell.. Let's be honest... they could make it where a bog standard USB Bluray/DVD drive would work.

Not without significantly compromising the copy protection system for game discs, even a first party drive would be a menace as the external connection would be an easy point of entry for anyone that wants to analyse and attack.

To be fair, that IS Euro pricing, so it's bound to be more expensive, AND it does come with three games preinstalled.

That said, if you can get the disc version with games installed for like...$250.00, I think? This should be $225.00 at most. I think $199.99 is a more reasonable number, though. (I don't think they're actually making you pay for the games, I think they're doing it to sweeten the deal. I'd like to see what the price would be without the preinstalled games... I'm betting the same.)

Either way, with data caps on a lot of ISPs and other capless ISPs starting to throttle customers, I'm not sure all digital is the best way to go, these days. It's one thing to stream a movie like on Vudu or Netflix, it's another to have to download 60-120+ GB video games and their updates (some of which can be more frequent than infrequent) plus whatever else you do with your connection that isn't XBox related...

I can't imagine this will be a big seller in Comcast areas... (And they're all over the place.) A device like this makes sense in an area like the EU where internet is FAST and affordable and most ISPs (varies by location) don't have caps. Here in the US and Canada, there are caps all over.

Not sure where to post this, but here goes.

I recently bought a Division 2 Xbox One S bundle. I don't want the digital code though for the game. Anyone want it? I am selling.

That’s the best title they could come up with? Any idea what the price is so I can start saving?

Well theres supposedly going to be 2 SKUs. So maybe Series D for the all digital version. Maybe a Series S as well down the line, IDK.
I'm going with $20 a week if you want the most powerful version and some games/accessories on Day One.

Well, either way. Sony, balls in your court now.

Does look a bit on the large side though...

I think if you were to cut the X1 in half length-wise, stack it, and stand it up, it would be close to the same size.

I just hope I’ll be able to find a spot for it in my new place and more importantly connect to my tv.
