Absolutely ridiculous. This should be getting cheaper, not more expensive.

Hmm, after careful thought, my comment is "Fuck you Microsoft, Fuck You!"

Even if I do get my 360 fixed I will be cancelling my Live account.

I don't care but why? Why is that needed? They're about to add services that cost another subscription (Hulu and Netflix here in Canada, and yes I know Microsoft doesn't get that money, but why bother raising the price?).

I know it only averages out to less than a dollar a month (for 12 months) but it's still pretty dumb. Currently all I use the Live subscription for is to play games online. I don't really use all those other "entertainment features". It's too bad they couldn't separate it out so you can pay different prices depending on what you want to use.

Seriously, increasing the price by $10 a year is not a smart move. People are already pinching pennies/pesos/pence as is. Especially when competitors are offering some of the same services at no charge. Plus, this isn't going to be any type of incentive to get people to join who have been holding out or given up on the service.

I rarely use XBL, so I'll be cancelling when the renewal next comes up - it doesn't offer particularly great value for money as it is, compared to PSN *shrug*

I can think of alot of people I know that probably won't bat an eye at the hike. Most people I know who have a 360 and play online swear by it. So an extra ten bucks and they will probably not think about it.

I'm not shocked but I do feel like its an unneeded bump in the cost in gaming considering how publishers are out to kill used games

Idiotic. I have a hard enough time convincing my friends that Live is worth $50, raising the price will only lose you customers, not allow you to gain customers.

As soon as Twin Twist kicks my ass in SSFIV, and as soon as my membership expires, I'm done shelling out for Live. Only going to ask for subscriptions as gifts from now on.

It's not idiotic. If you are smart about it and doing the year subscription anyway, it's only an 82ish cents increase a month. Not worth going ZOMG WHAT THE FUCK MICRO$OFT. You guys should realize it's been the same price since 2002, and with the new services coming via XBL (ESPN, Vid chat, enchancing the Netflix service with additional movie studios, increasing the audio quality) the price increase makes sense.

Please explain to me how Netflix and ESPN factor in to the Euro price hike seeing as we don't get either of those services?

Also Netflix is an ADDITIONAL subscription on top of LIVE. There is no "good value" proposition. There is Microsoft holding your balls and squeezing.

Please, please don't use the Netflix argument. Ever.

Netflix is no additional charge on any other device. iPad/Pod/Phone, PS3, Wii, PC, Mac. Microsoft continuing to hide it behind the paywall is completely unnecessary.

Wow. Terrible move there microsoft. I already felt that the $50 a year was already not worth it. In fact, I just bought Red Dead Redemption on PS3 just because I was not sure that I would want to renew my Gold membership. Now I know for sure that I am not going to renew. Its just not worth it by any stretch of the imagination. Really. I would like a rational explanation of why Gold was ever worth it. All it does is unlock what the console should do right out of the box (multiplayer) only with Xbox you have to pay for it. Oh, I guess with Live, you get to send audio messages to friends. Thats cool I guess? Is it $50 or $60 a year cool? Hell no.

Okay, I jumped the gun a bit. And for that I apologize.

The Euro Price hike is a dick move (Mexico is apparently getting screwed as well), I'll admit to that. I didn't know about the Netflix thing either. I don't use the service because, well, I have the internet.

Honestly, considering I already pay for the service by the year and it comes down to under a dollar a month, I'm not exactly angered by the increase. I understand WHY people are disappointed and such, but if you are like me and honestly prefer the services that the 360 gives that the PS3 currently doesn't have yet (Mainly social things like cross-game chat and the like. Come on Sony. You can do it. It can't possibly be that hard.) and the majority of the people you play with are on the 360-only titles, it's not like there's a choice.
