Maybe they can cancel this and produce some more of those Ultra Magnus kits

 

I have Leader Jetfire and Skycrusher next to each other on my shelf and the top of the Leader’s head lines up to about the middle of Skycrushers shoulders.

 

Because my Takara Godbomber is in combined mode with Super Ginrai I had no need for the power master head so I have used it for Skycrusher.

Not an entirely Skyfire accurate face sculpt but still better looking than the original Skycrusher face plus the LED was garbage on my copy so no loss there.

As soon as I return to the UK, my Skycrusher is going on eBay.

 

That mistransformed crotch on Jetfire looks painful.

 

If they don't release version 2 with a better face sculpt soon, I'm gonna give this up and wait for Takara's Siege Jetfire instead....

Hey, now... I happen to like some of Hasbro's trash.

Seriously though, I pick and choose and Skycrusher fits perfectly for what I want in my collection. A good 80% of my collection is Official TF I just find more than good enough. That's not to say I close myself off to better options when they're available. I won't limit my own collecting just cause I don't see a HasTak logo on the box  

From the renders, Seige gets the robot mode looking right and alt mode doesn't have robot mode arms dangling on its sides. I'd be lying if I didn't say I wasn't jealous. But Skycrusher is still hands down the Skyfire for me.

 

I mean, what's your price. I've been considering one and could help you dodge ebay fees

There is a thing as too many gimmicks and this figure is the result of that. It has a fantastic built but sadly it also copies the worse design cues of Hasbro's penny pinching just to make it blend in with them. But it stops there and doesn’t quite get the good things about the Hasbro designs. Square-ish and clumsy amateur looking sculpt that still goes out of its way to create Hasbro like holes where it doesn’t need to or leaves things like the landing gear so exposed when it could have hidden them way better.

Many friends have held my Skycrusher and all have been wowed by how good it feels... but they also all agree that it looks like a rushed Hasbro CW design but with an uglier face sculpt. It's the opposite of old XTB and KFC designs that looked great but felt like shit in hand. This one looks clumsy but feels fantastic.

The face is beyond horrid. X2 had ages to deliver on the promised better face for those of us that bought the figure. From what I see, they backpedaled so hard on the idea that they want to add a bunch of crap to get us to pony up more money. Only they took too much to even do that.

 

Honestly, I believe that this was the intent of X2, to create a figure that is simple to transform, fit into the CW line and be well made. I believe figure achieved it’s intended goals. It was not supposed to be a toon accurate figure and never pretended to be.

While the face isn’t great, there are workarounds. It seems like X2 was hoping to establish an independent line of toys and include the improved face with that release. They probably don’t see a successful path forward creating that niche and that’s why we haven’t seen it released.

The Optimus/Nemesis Prime they put out is a great figure and didn’t seem to catch fire. That probably put a damper on things also.

 

I like how he looks with Henkei Prime. I may still get this for my original classics collection, if they speed things up and finally release the new face.

 

Well because X2 is taking so long on getting a proper face released they have lost a sale from me. The Siege Skyfire looks amazing and I know it will be available unlike this upgraded face which is just dust in the wind as far as I'm concerned.

But then we wouldn't be able to enjoy our toys.
We'd have to walk around in long, dignified dresses and suits in muted colors.
We'd have to read the paper and gossip at the grocers for fun.
Newspapers suck ass these days.
We'd always have to eat at the table and speak in a neutral voice.
I prefer what we have.
