Someone should KO Allen and give him proper paint, and I'll buy it no questions asked. The Playdoh colors are what turned me off from buying him.

Yeah, I don't understand why people hate on allen either. My personal ranking based on what's been released so far would be Allen, Mmc, Spring, FT, TW.

 

I got no doubt that Allen is a well put together figure, but for me, i'm absolutely not a fan of the styling. Aside from a general proportion issues I have with him, the two parts that stick out like a sore thumb to me mainly being the face and chest. The former of which I just find offputting, and the chest seems disproportionate with a front vent that looks off in terms of shape.

Just to compare with what I have shipping now as we speak, Apache, he for me ends up, while pretty bulky as well in his own right, a lot more coherent and faithful. The faceplate on Apache for me looks more on-model while at the same time adding details that really help accentuate it and give Springer a more imposing stature. The latter has the depth but also made the vent in a more on-model shape.

TLDR: I'm a stickler for accuracy, and Allen unfortunately doesn't hit it as much as the competition does, while aside from that, not looking as appealing in terms of overall styling and engineering, though again, I don't doubt that he's a fine figure.

I get ya, personally I actually like the bigger shoulder pauldrons, as they end up giving Springer a bit more of a heroic presence. XTB certainly has it right in terms of accuracy, but for me while i'm fine with it in the end, there have definitely been times where it looked off as well.

 

I saw that showz sent out the MMC Saltus alternate version pre-order notification for payment. That means its incoming.
Anyone heard anything from XTB yet? I like the mechanics of this one, but I am hoping these are not the final colors, because this latest one from MMC has the best colors so far.

Allen is huge, in person he feel like a heavy armour fighter. So I guess that doesn't really fit the Springer's image?

Agreed, he is a great figure. For me it is also a rare situation where I've actually grown to prefer the yellow feet over the accuracy of how they should be. It just looks cooler to me now than if they were gray.

I'll check for Virtus but won't feel pressed if I'm not feeling it as much as Allen.

 

Funny, being a stickler for accuracy is why I couldn't bring myself to go with Apache. I don't remember Springer having big ol' wheels on his legs.

 

Actually he was the beefiest new Movie/S3 bot right after Ultra Magnus. So yes, Allen fits that image perfectly.

But let's not forget this is the Virtus thread...

@ibot What are these faces based on? Will the normal toon style faces still be colored the same color as his thighs and hands? His face, thighs, and hands are all supposed to be the same kind of greenish-beige color.

 

He also didn’t have a black chin strap

 

Those faces are for Youth Menasor, not their Springer. They've had to do some colour corrections on that as well so I guess the post was meant to show they're working on both  

Win win here, Springer is looking a lot better in those colours now, and the Youth Menasor faces needed to be silver.
