I assumed it would look the same, just with all the QC fixes they've hopefully made no? Maybe some paint on the abs this time as well.

 

Please just show everything in final colour with real lighting. Not a candid hallway shot with creepy finger nails, partial colour test or random body parts.

I think it was Kup that just need his abs painting, Springer was kinda off all over. The sculpt is by far the best looking though, they nail the colours they nail the whole aesthetic. Looking back at the old proto:



maybe the grill being painted a d the right colour face will do wonders. Looking forward to the new shots either way  

 

XTB has made the chest vents too shallow, but that seems to be a common problem with Springer. FT did it well either through paint or found more room to make these deeper. There must just not be enough room to physically make them deeper. But borrowing from @pg52282 over in the Robot Hero thread, this shows how getting the right paint apps can make the vents look deeper. Fill in with dark gray and the illusion works!


I love my Big Spring and would upgrade to Robot Hero, except that I'm hoping all this time gave Keith the chance to incorporate feedback and get the colors right for Virtus.

 

It’s bizarre how much more I like the proportions of the open and play Springer than XTB’s.... something happened between the 3D render and physical prototype I guess, because I was hyped before it.

 

Yeah, he seems slightly more elongated than the render, and it's throwing it off because Springer is supposed to be pretty wide.

Derp. That'll teach me to type while half asleep, I had my Lockes and Virtuses mixed up  . So yeah, Virtus pics with the final deco should be good, XTB showed a couple of pieces with updated colouring before the latest delay so hopefully in the final version it will look as good as we hoped.

Gosh looking at all those and no one has nailed the G1 character design have they. Although I've got virtus on preorder, I might cancel for the robot hero at this rate as I think it is the best of the lot now they've improved the headsculpt on big spring.

 

XTB's definitely win over the accuracy and sculpt.
But I do like the body mass of big spring. Especially arms of xtb look indeed a bit too skinny for me.
(Maybe not the whole arm, just shoulder armour, perhaps a bit forearm as well.)

 

I have the MMC Springer and the Open and Play Big Spring and I agree. The more I see of the XTB offering the more it just looks off.
I have it paid already but it just don't look right.
Also I got the face upgrade for Big Spring. It came with a patato face.
All the extras that XTB added to Springer are not as important as the actual figure.
