I’ve been looking forward to this figure for years from the prototypes and was gutted when the painted pics came out. I couldn’t understand how they could get it so wrong!? I like so many couldn’t get over how lanky he looked. Now the dust has settled and the new colours are in, it looks like it’s gonna be 86 based (thank god!) I mocked up my own version in 86 colours and it looked pretty great tbh. The lankiness could also be down to shooting from below which makes figures look heroic but can lengthen, so here’s hoping.

I had Apache on preorder which I’ve cancelled and might get saltus as a backup but I’m still hoping virtus knocks it out the park!

 

Pretty much what i'm doing minus Apache. I have both Saltus and Virtus ordered and that's more than enough for me. All i'd ever get Apache for is trade bate but it's not worth my time.

Yeah I saw that afterwards. I'd prefer sky blue eyes to match the current MP line, but I can deal with it. I'd also rather it was matte than metallic, but again I can live with it as long as the colours are decent and they don't forget to paint the abdomen piece etc.

I ordered it anyway as I recently missed out on MP-52 as I didn't even know Omegalock was selling it (as they put it up on TFS despite telling people to use the UK site). Annoying and I didn't want a repeat of that.

 

Saltus has feet, ankles and knees that flop about, at least on my copy. They can not be tightened.

 

Hmm neat, that's the first complaint I've heard about him.

 

I apologize in advance if I’m being captain obvious, but did you extend his toes? They’re on tight sliders and it makes a huge difference in his stability.

 

There's also panels you can pry open on his inner thighs that reveal 2 screws, the lower of which you can tighten his knee joints with. Admittedly my ankle joints are a bit floppy but Saltus is A-mazing.

Got both Virtus and Apache incoming, will look forward to comparing all the offerings. I think Virtus' spinning rotar accessory actually looks very cool so he might stay in perma chopper mode.

 

I got the height based on the description from TF-source. Turns out TF-source was way off. Found a Reddit post saying Allen is 10" tall. I was able to find an ebay auction with Allen next to a ruler confirming he is at least 10" tall. Perhaps TFsource had a typo and meant 9.7" tall. Either way Allen appears to be taller than 9.7".

 

I was gonna interject, I think my Allen is not that short. Lol

 

Add to that triple changers are a beast to engineer. At least one mode has to suffer to get another mode correct. Characters like Springer, Arcee, and Kup are even tougher to get right since they have a more human shape to them. I don't think any one has got Arcee right yet.

Bobby SkullFace had the same floppy knees in his review. There's a person in the Saltus thread with the autoloosening ankles too. I haven't seen any others though.

The figure's more stable if I don't extend them! Thanks for replying.

To the moderator; sorry for this conversation being in the wrong thread. It started off as a comparison with Virtus, but I derailed it. It was extremely useful, though!

 

Starscream went up in October (I debated prices with AJP for a bit, and I finally ordered my copy on 2nd November), so was on TFS-Express. Thundercracker was added this month so went on Omegalock, as they announced the changes first week of January.

Edit: the price isn't all that different, in fact I went with AJP even though it was about a tenner more expensive. AJP still has him up, so if you haven't ordered one yet... oh, and I think Kapow have him too.

Just confirmed in kup thread, that locke is shipping out today and a small batch of springer will go out before CNY with the remainder going out after.

 

New colors do look promising, but hope we can see a final product soon! I cancelled an apache pre-order for this and got cold feet after the reveal. Currently sitting with only the new Saltus Alternative on-preorder, but certainly willing to change!

 

pretty much as I’ve done...just waiting to preorder saltus. I think it seems like they realise they screwed up with the colours and are painstakingly matching to animation cells so hopefully will be spot on. I’m hoping virtus hits it out the park though as it seems to genuinely tick all the boxes in a better way than the others out there. Saltus looks good in bot mode but I hate his car mode.
