It won because it is indeed a good looking Megatron and it came at a time when people were clamoring for one. I own it and it looks great on a shelf, no doubt, but its got a ton of well documented problems.

I've always said I have no interest in the minibots...
But certain guys, mostly from Season 2, are just weird.
Weird in a good way. I like how Cybertronians have all these different functions and forms. Seaspray is one of them. I mean, who looks like Seaspray?? Nobody, that's who.
That's why I'll keep my eyes on any Seaspray coming along.

Now I've seen it, I'm sticking with my FT pre-order, as I prefer the "heroic" proportions.

that Springer, though... I was happy with my Generations version for my Wreckers and had no interest in any of the G1 versions as none looked quite right... but that looks spot on in robot mode. I might just have to double dip on another character.

They look good. I'll admit it but after my experience with Boost & Hatch, I'll stick with FT.

I hear you. But they look sooo good. It's gotta be nigh impossible to overcomplicate Seaspray's transformation. Right? Right...? :poke

Honestly that's not a bad seaspray. I'm in for Fans toys but I could be swayed to change my mind. It all comes down to QC and how engineered it is

That is what i am thinking on both seaspray and Cosmos, DX9 cant possibly make it overcomplicated like the rest of their minibots.... or can they? Heck i know sellers that asked reviewers to transform the DX9 minibots because they didnt want to go through the nightmare of the DX-9 Minibots. Anyways, DX9 pricing will likely be more than FT (which i will be buying), and TW looks great and at 55$ makes no need for me to pay 18$ more for DX-9. Hope i am wrong though about the DX9 pricing on this, cause he is tempting in this pic.

While I am leaning towards FT based on XTBs track record, I really do like the way this looks. They seemed to have captured the tubbyness of the character better. It will be interesting to see who actually gets theirs to market first, XTB of FT.

That's what I'm saying. The only other things XTB can do to mess this up is cheap out on the plastic quality and of course screw up the color. Please no orange and purple Seaspray XTB.

Whoa.... that looks GREAT. Way better than FT's Seaspray. Bring it on!

The Springer looks pretty awesome too. Man, Springer Wars are in full effect!

Actually, you bring up a good point. These all look good, so price could be the deciding factor for me.

I was asking myself the exact same thing. They found a way to do it with Boost & Hatch's feet so I don't put it past them at this point. Besides FT Spindrift is only $60 standard US retail (before shipping). Meanwhile we've seen that XTB minibots go for $65-$71 before shipping.
