216 posts of complaints?! It was so hard to find out finally what people was complaining about
His point is that the 'blandness' has nothing to do with the fact that it's a prototype. The lack of paint is only one factor. There is still design, engineering, sculpt detailing, etc. that contribute to whether a figure is 'bland'.
You seem to be stuck on 'of course it looks bland, there's no paint' when there are a myriad of other factors that can be considered.
yall gonna get mad at bee\'s feet but praise a figure with no heels
I didn’t praise his feet. No way Bee has good feet. See how this looks after it has a final product shot
I think he looks fine. Standing pose and painted or as a combiner torso he fits the bill among many others yet to come. There are so many figures past and present that do the same as this one I’m surprised at some people’s reactions.
To be fair, life can be pretty annoying.
Maybe expectations were too high?
Hey, thanks! Littens are quite good.
That would’ve been cool if they came with their double-barreled vehicle mode guns
If these guys can't pose like they're about to put out an album then I'm going to have to sell them....
Xtransbots Motormaster is way to tall, mean it's just, I can't do it.
You see right away why FT and DX9 went for bigger limb bots. Just no way to get Motormaster any smaller.
Would like to see Overheat's back...looks like the bumper might stick out...I like that in the FT the bumper forms the sides of the torso
Well I have those two on preorder so just waiting for them to be released! I'm still wondering if MM will be priced at £75 or £100
Right yeah that’s fair.
Maybe. Maybe it's just that the poses made him look so different from the renders. Maybe the black background behind the dark figure in the renders obscured some of the details. I went back and looked at the renders and was surprised to find that his thighs always had that goofy taper at the knee - I just hadn't noticed it before because his thighs were dark colored in front of a dark colored background. His shoulders definitely didn't sit as far from his chest as some of the photos show, though. Maybe his shoulders move out like mp10's and the photos didn't show them in their standard inward position.
At any rate, I've calmed down from my kneejerk reaction. I still think he could be a lot better (here's hoping ibot is taking note of the feedback and there's still time to do some fixes) but I don't find him as hateful as I did when I saw the photos for the first time.
Whenever I see this
I can't help but think of this
When I saw the protos of the Stunticons I was 'a bit meh'....When I saw Breakdown I was 'maaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyybeeeeeeeee' (and I believe he is the worst of the bunch'....Now I am 'need to find the cash between my custom jobs to buy these guys'. MM again from the render looks 'meh' to me. Wont break the deal for sure, and I still believe he will look great when he lands.
1) XTB bot modes are too small. Plus they look awkward, blocky and lacking in dynamic posability.. to me. So they're out
2) DX9's bot modes look terrible to me and the QC on their first release is rubbish (QC on a lot of their stuff recently has been questionable) so they're out
3) Transformissions are not G1, they are modern cars ( I own them and like them but they are not at all suitable for a G1 M collection) so they're out.
4) FT's bot modes look the best, they are the correct height for me, they're accurate to the toon without being overly blocky like XTB or awkward looking like DX9 or inaccurate to the source like TFM. I have yet to purchase an FT figure that didn't impress me at least a little (even Rouge is great and Hoodlum impressed me just fine)
5)... there are no other options? I mean if Zeta gave it a go then maybe, but so far their speciality has been combined mode - their alt and bot is okay but not up to FT standards.
So yeah it's pretty easy for me to declare that FT wins bot mode for me.
Unlike a lot here, I've seen no reason to jump on the current "hate FansToys" bandwagon. Their quality is fine, their designs are gorgeous and they remain one of my top three choices alongside Takara and XTB. So far, FT has absolutely killed it with their Combiners, for someone like me where the look of bot and combined modes are the most important aspect.
