Finally completed the G2 version and urgh, what a nightmare, painful to transform and such a floppy unstable mess, at least he looks nice, even if I do have to keep him permanently propped up against something.

 

You haven't gotten the feet properly transformed. They pull out for a bit of extra stability.

 

It’s not much, but spreading his toes helps.

 

You know... I would love to ransack the purple clearish? parts on the chest and abdomen from the G2 version and put them on my Toon version. Like how DX9 has it. I think it helps break up the black a bit.

 

I had them like that and it was actually worse, the issue is the loose joints rather than the feet themselves.

 

I was so excited about the racing edition of Overheat.... then it arrived and broke immediately because the tolerances are poor and the plastic is brittle on the blue piece that connects the engine to the torso. X-Trans has sent me replacement parts twice and both times they expect me to remove and replace metal pins and both times the replacements have broken in exactly the same way. Fun.

They have the G2 version too. So I asked them if they had any in stock or would I have to wait for them to be made then sent. This is what they said.

I would give it a shot, but I've already got a preorder through Troy McClures fb page. It cost about the same as they are adverting here just no ebay taxes. I figure I would let people know, who are wanting to get a set.

 

Doesn't seem like it would fix the issue with the knee joints not being strong enough...

 

I wouldn't know. I know there's a few people on this forum who have it. Only they can answer that. When I get mine, I will let people know how the knee joints pan out and any other pros and cons. I do like that it makes it DX9s height. Might sell my DX9 set after I get the kit.

 

I think it does actually. It replaces the knee piece that keeps warping at the top of the leg. It replaces that and I think it still retains a ratchet in the knee joint.

 

So it looks like almost 2 months and $160 to gain what, a small amount of height and better proportions? I wish they'd have come up with a better or cleaner way to attach the bots.

 

From the way it is described, it seems to be 3D printed in China (most likely). I wonder if the real maker lists it for sale in China or not, say on Xianyu.

I think this kit makes him look great but without a solid confirmation that it drastically improves stability, it's too much. That pic of him standing on one leg does say something but with mine knees have never been a problem though I had to tighten things at the hips and ankles to get him to hold poses.

Yeah, Like Toys has all his 3D printed kits and figures on Xianyu, maybe a better more affordable option can be had. He sells this for less than $60 locally so I think it's a bit much to be around $200.

I started buying DX9 stunticon cars for father's day, but couldn't get Motormaster.
So ended up buying the x-transbot set.  

 

Well, I fought with him for way too long and honestly, I don't think this shoot would have continued without Jimmyh's back piece, but here are a couple of highlights.

 

After all this time that I had the G2 Gravestone I finally managed to get this done right like the picture here. It was a struggle, but well worth it. Thanks for sharing.
