    wtf is this new devilry
I dont love the colouring on it but the idea of having the cars on the front of the legs is powerfully arousing....

It's sort of possible already by swapping the lower legs over (and then swapping the feet back across).

    menasor_feet_2.jpg menasor_feet_1.jpg

The feet look a bit silly from the side, being set back so far. And he's not that stable. But the stability issue is partly because I'm still waiting for a replacement knee part from Omegalock. It arrived broken in November...

I am still not understanding the desire to have the cars on the front. That only happened in IDW. Even there it looks off to me. Though I still love my Transformission Menasor just the same.

I guess the issue is, we spent £140 or thereabouts on two great-looking car transformers, only to have them hidden on the shelf behind some giant robot calves!

I kinda like the way FT will do it (in ten years’ time when their Menasor finally comes out!!!), where you will have the option to attach the cars to the front of the shins, albeit with the underside facing the front.

It was the sensible way to have the G1 toy in the 80s. It looked better to be able to see the tops of the cars than the boring undersides, and it gave him knees that bend the right way. I did the with all of the combiners where it was possible. Superion certainly was that way. Some didn't work because of the foot plate shape. So that's the nostalgia for me, and for others I've seen comment about it. (I didn't really watch the cartoon as I never liked it much.)

But also, as Ryan says, these days it just looks boring having them on the back, as you don't even get the underside of the car showing. You get a grey slab and a hint of wheel poking out.

I am all about the animation look. But the fanstoys method does look intriguing.

I don't ever remembering anyone doing that way back in the day. The boxart showed them facing back, and that's what I did.

As for not seeing the back, I have all my combiners doing battle with an opponent, so I see all mine from the side.

Also, knee articulation without any hip articulation?

Oh, I know the box art and instructions had it one way, and even the comic (mostly, but not always) had the cars on the back. But when you're young you want a toy to play with more than one to look perfect. Or at least I did. Knee articulation without hip is better than nothing - and it's certainly better than knees that bend the wrong way!

Sadly, I don't have space to pose bots in battles. I strongly disagree with the dreary Fanstoys "no-one poses bots from the back" point of view, and I like bots to look good from all angles. But they do have to live front-on to fit in the cabinets.

But it's all personal preference. You never had yours that way, which is fine. And it's good for you since almost everything comes that way. It's nice to get the option, though. I love MS Menasor for this. You have so many options for the positions and orientations of the limb-bots.

I feel like I saw some of these at TFCon LA this past month. I have the other two versions because I'm partially delusional. Hopefully those who are waiting for the G2 version get it soon and blemish free. Still, that color palette just makes me think he was mugged by a basket of Easter Eggs.

G2 is hideous. Which is why I love it.

I need those Omnibots. I have two of each on order, thinking of springing for a third for the weird weaponized modes.

I still question if any of those repaints will ever get made. I can't imagine them making them unless they get alot of preorders.

I've just finished transforming this guy and...

Can anyone tell me what they were thinking with this knee articulation? No way it's going to last without breaking, even without moving the knee...

Is the screw and mounting peg intact? If so you can try pressing it back together and snugging the screw in. Attempting to bend the knee has to be done at the knee joint. Holding it and slightly bracing the lower leg.

The knees on the Youth version (at least on mine) are smoother compared to the first run Toon versions were. Mine broke at the first transformation. The knee screw sheared off with ever the slightest twist.

Xtransbots sent me replacements. So try them. I’m waiting to catch up with them next month because of the “epidemic” they’re experiencing at the moment for other replacements and are limited or can’t ship at the moment.

Overall it’s a design that should have gone a few more iterations in that particular section. A flat pressed jointed rivet would have been better and allow it stronger stability and rotation.
