Fa Fa Fa Fa Faaaaaannnnntoyyyyssss!
The issue is that the company is constantly setting expectations and then failing to meet those expectations.
Case in point: we weren't aware that Gravestone wouldn't come with the trailer until late last year. The trailer was eventually advertised with an April 2020 release date.
Company went quiet.
No trailer in April 2020.
Company then advises in May/June that it is *still* working on the trailer (which was due in April), but that photos and pre-orders will be available in June. Also, the tone of their announcements are geared to increase anticipation.
No photos or pre-orders, but they re-release some old figures.
Company advises they have sent the trailer to their photographer in July, photos should be coming soon.
More than a week later, no photos or pre-orders.
This doesn't even take into account the Quintessons, which they advised were almost ready and then asked what colour they should paint them... which means they hadn't decided on a colour...
I can understand that deadlines slip and you need more time, but I'm honestly getting a little tired and frustrated by XTB deliberately stoking the hype and then failing to deliver - as in, I am now at the "I will buy this product to complete my set, but I will reconsider buying anything in future until the point it has actually been released" stage. So, I might be back in the market for a Springer.
That's not true. At least not completely. We've seen at least a few people in this thread who were in and then got so exasperated that they sold off their Stunticons and went with dx9 or Fanstoys. We've also seen at least a few who have decided to content themselves with the set of bots and just skip the trailer, again going with a competitor for the combiner or just living without.
As for me, I'm still in for exactly the reasons you say, but I will not buy another combiner from XTB. I'm also losing interest in their Quintesson - I'd planned on buying one but was never desperate to own it and all these delays are just putting me off from my desire to own it. I understand that the pandemic is likely the cause of much of the delay but, like @bobagorof said, I just can't stay interested while a company keeps trying to keep interest stoked without delivering anything. The same thing happened to me with Gran Turismo 5 on PS3: I was hyped for the game, but then they kept releasing more and more teasers while seemingly getting no closer to finishing, and then releasing a paid demo under the name "prologue." By the time the game came out, I didn't care any more and I never bought it or any other Gran Turismo game since. I've still got my pre-order for Paean (even though they're overcharging like crazy) and I'll still get the trailer but I think that's it: no more XTB for me. And I'll reiterate: I was someone who loved XTB. Even many of the releases that most people derided, I bought and extolled on the boards. If someone tries to dangle me, I cut the fucking rope.
the only reason why I am sticking with XTB is because their combined mode is almost an exact match to the cartoon compared to DX9, and fanboys
I don't blame you for your thoughts about Combiner Wars Menasor.
Hopefully XTB's not located in an area at risk of flooding due to dam emergency releases or failures.
He’s not too bad.
He’s rather floppy but can look good if you can get him to balance properly.
And since we’re so concerned about the trailer, here’s one:
LOL @ the folks who are comparing a Retail Chug CW Menasor to an actual MP Menasor. Like really.?? I guess some folks gotta trash something while we all wait for the trailer reveal sooner or later.
I was gonna go fans toys but they seem too hard to get. You gotta be on the ball with preorders, I'm happy with my xtb, although the dx9 doesn't look to bad either...
Well I know they are in a different league, I just meant I'm ready for a MP Menasor. The CW Menasor is what it is, I bought it, and the upgrade kit helps if tremendously but I'm getting off track. I just really want xtb to "show me the trailer".
As far as people getting fed up and saying they won't but xtb amore due to "reasons". The way I look at it, I love xtb, if they need the time to keep at it to make it better, fine. I don't need updates all the time, sure once in a while would be nice. I'm the type though that will keep buying their figures and not give up on them. Idk there is just something about xtb that clicks with me, I'll play the waiting game and it will eventually pay off.
@Bryman022 I gotcha and its all good man. I also had the CW Menasor with the PE upgrades and it was a Fine stand-in for the time being. I eventually sold mine as I was offered a deal I couldn't pass up on. To me personally it's just a good thing we have 3 options for a Stunticons/Menasor set.
I couldn't agree more, all these choices means there's the perfect version for almost everyone!
they are located in Wuhan near the wet markets
This, plus the fact that they are raising the prices just like Takara and Fanstoys:
- Trailbreaker toon version's reissue -> 125 USD, I bought it for 80 or so. Same for Hoist.
- Wreck Gar's preorder is 199 USD. Not only it's a mold from 5 years ago that was sold for less than 100, not only they raised the prices for the other junkions to 120 USD, now we reach an unreasonable price.
- Scourge and Cyclonus had similiar price raising, despite being recolors.
With this said, I have the fear that the trailer will cost us a fortune and that I will no longer be in for any new release from them, despite being one of my favourite toymakers.
Looks like it was a typo, now it's 119 USD (which is a good 30 USD more than the previous release anyway)
[Pre-Order] KFC Toys E.A.V.I. Metal Phase 6A Crash Hog Wreck-Gar WreckGar
Regarding cost: everyone's costs are going up. Shocking alert: we're in the middle of a pandemic, everything is more expensive now due to labor issues, factories having to ramp back up, shipping is waaaay up, etc.
Regarding delays: shit sucks, but is what it is. It's a shame they were too optimistic, multiple times, regarding getting us info, but /shrug. We're not going to die. Again, there's a pandemic that's fucked everything. Not like any 3p company has ever been on time with anything, of course it's going to be even worse during this mess.
The wait sucks, but I'm sure we'll ultimately all be happier that they took the time to rework the trailer and give us a better product at the end of this.
Now....where's the KFC PMOP update?!
Hell ya, I would rather wait and wait and wait if it means in the end we get a better product!
There's no guarantee that the delays will result in a better product though. My biggest worry here is we end up with a glaring issue like we had with Overheats shoulders. This trailer needs to be perfect for the amount of times they've missed their own deadlines.
Expecting the trailer to be perfect is a bit too much imo. I just hope that its going to be great with all the delays and time they had with the trailer, it better be as good if not better than DX9's Menasor suit.
Totally! I can just picture it now: I'm in my 90s, in a hospital bed, barely holding on, wires and tubes everywhere. Three generations of my family is weeping around me, in various stages of grief. The crowd parts and a little boy approaches the bed, holding a dented carboard box. "Great-pa-pa, this came for you in the mail." A gentle smile lifts the corners of my mouth, I sigh, and the heart monitor goes flat.
It's gonna rule.
